Welcome to the new season. We are delighted to present you with MUSE’s 13th edition.

Since the last issue, our buyers have shopped the collections from New York to Paris to bring their taste and super-refined antenna for what’s new and covetable this season.And it has been a very fruitful season for AlOthman’s buying team, who has combed the globe and scanned an inordinate amount of clothes, shoes, and accessories to handpick the best of the collections and to introduce a bunch of new brands to our designer roll call. From hot new discoveries to superstar names, you’ll get to shop the creme de la creme of the collections, from the catwalk to your closet.

On a related note, we are absolutely thrilled that this October sees the unveiling of our newly relocated and re-designed boutique, replete with more space, inventory and a chic savoir-faire. The new boutique, which still resides in Maryam Complex, will boast 20,000 square feet brimming with ready-to-wear, handbags, costume jewelry, shoes, a bridal salon, and home ware.

Another exciting news, which is keeping the O Girls on their well-heeled toes, is that by the end of the year, we will open a new luxury boutique in the heart of Belgravia in London, just off Sloane Street with a great sense of character and traditional charm. The boutique, called On Motcomb, will specialize in providing a glamorous selection of eveningwear and cocktail dresses by the biggest names in the fashion world.

I thank you for your continuous support and I look forward to optimally grow AlOthman with you. I leave you now with MUSE, the go-to guide to the new season.

Sophie's design aesthetic is derived from an interest in

menswear, and she is fastidious about the fit

of garments.

The key motif for Hulme's SS13 is a pineapple, and for AW13 it is a classic referee's whistle.

The Sophie Hulme studio is based within a converted toy factory,

she is also in fact a collector of toys.

Sophie Hulme graduated from Kingston University

with Student of the Year and Best Collection awards. The Telegraph has named her as one of London’s brightest

talents.

Name your standout restaurant/favorite dish/ and why?Mercer Kitchen is always a great stop for lunch. I adore their kale salad which is tossed with a lemon parmesan dressing and sprinkled with jalapeno peppers. I always pair it with their crispy calamari that is shaken with some yummy spices as well.

Favorite beauty basics?I am obsessed with Josie Maran’s Argan Oil line. It is all natural based products that I buy in the form of a traveling stick and in a tube and it keeps me moisturized throughout all my many flights.

Favorite place for people watching?During fashion week there is no better place than having your sandwich while perched on the fountain at Lincoln Center. The other places I like to stop and have a tea while people watching are the steps of the New York City Public Library by the lions or the lush café in Bryant Park. You see a fantastic medley of people from all walks of life.

Favorite escape?I am a huge fan of SoulCycle. It is a spinning class but on another level. It takes place in a dark candlelit room, the music is always current and loud, you spin with your eyes closed and it is just an hour of pure challenge to your body. At the same time though, the trainers also work on the soul part about empowering yourself and finding a means of balance. It is the perfect hour away from fashion and a focus on your personal strength.

Must see shows.The two most dramatic and awe inspiring shows have got to be Marchesa and Zac Posen. The glamour of it is what defines all that is beautiful in the fashion industry and for those few moments you lose yourself in a world of pure luxury. The other show not to be missed has got to be the high energy always super creative show of Diane von Furstenburg. She always has one of the most star studded audiences and the show is always electric.

Best bookstore?Housing Works Bookstore on Crosby Street has an amazing selection of books and the intimate little cafe is simply charming. You can lose me there for hours on end.

Favorite beauty spa?The spa at the Mandarin Oriental in Midtown is phenomenal. Located on the 35th floor, your treatment room has floor to ceiling glass walls with unreal views across the city over to the Hudson River. Their products are fabulous and it is a true feeling of pampering with its orange infused ice water and their beds that you melt into.

Still ran by its owners, the TERZAKOU fur house has established itself as an artisan who values the tradition and the know-how by running entirely its production in Paris for now almost 100 years. TERZAKOU Designs reflect a centenary “savoir-faire”, a passion for excellence and the pure talent of the designers.

Central Saint Martins graduates Kim Trager and Lowell Delaney first met on their knitwear BA degree course in 2007. Sharing an instant aesthetic connection, they created Trager Delaney. Trager, a Danish native moved to London to pursue a career in fashion and has held tenures at Haider Ackermann, among others. Delaney, born and raised in London has previously worked in Paris and New York at Celine, under Phoebe Philo’s direction, Sonia Rykiel and Alexander Wang.

O’2nd was founded in 1997 in Seoul, Korea. Since the launch,

the collection remained a leader in the contemporary market. The intention is to expand on the collection’s light spirit and youthful sensibility through an advanced and refined lens with a global perspective in mind.

March 2002 brought the launch of Cortazar’s first eveningwear collection, and only a few months later would Cortazar hold his first runway show during NY Fashion Week, which marked the 18 year-old Cortazar as the youngest designer ever to show at the tents. At the age of 23, Cortazar was appointed chief creative director of Emanuel Ungaro. Cortazar left Ungaro after two successful years and in September of 2012 he relaunched his own brand.

Austin ScarlettBorn in Oregon, Austin Scarlett moved to New York as a teenager and studied at the Art Students League of New York and The Fashion Institute of Technology. Austin first gained international recognition for his designs on TV show Project Runway. He went on to become one of the youngest designers in history to be named Creative Director of a couture wedding and eveningwear collection in 2006, creating six seasons of gowns for the design house. Born in Romania, Lorena Sarbu Lorena launched her elegant eveningwear collection in 2009 and opened her New York showroom in early 2010. With an eye for exquisite detail, Lorena combines sumptuous fabrics, unique textures and intricate embellishments to create distinctively stunning designs for the modern woman. Marchesa Voyage

For the Fall/Winter 2013 season Marchesa launched a contemporary sportswear collection, Marchesa Voyage. The collection features exotic prints, unique embellishments and languid silhouettes designed with a sense of effortless chic.

Established in 2011 by a young aspirational Iranian designer Mahtab Jamali, Katayoon is a London-based brand dedicated to producing the most exquisite Haute Couture and ready to wear garments. The delicate and feminine cuts are inspired by the strength and beauty of all women.

For this collection we sought to make the invisible visible and the unwearable wearable. We wanted to explore fashion from a different angle, decontextualize it and make history visible.

We’ve had access to the Musée Galliera’s remarkable archive of historical garments, and in forming our collection around them we are resurrecting things that would other- wise be hidden.

For the Fall 2013 collection, Carolina Herrera takes her inspiration from music. Collaborating with London-based composer Tom Hodge and producer Javier Peral, Carolina Herrera commissioned a musical score inspired by Beethoven’s Kreutzer Violin Sonata. My Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is inspired by the golden age of Russian Opera. This season we expressed our interest in the dark and heavily decorated work of the Spanish renaissance artists. In particular El Greco.

We wanted to translate this very historical period of Medieval Art and put it through a sharp modern filter of radial light. We feel that the silhouettes we arrived at are shapes that reflect a sculptural modernism without losing our love of femininity.
