Häfele supplied clever hardware fittings for the aVOID Tiny House, a mobile 9-square-meter miniature house by 27-year-old Italian architect Leonardo Di Chiara – including the Free flap fittings and the Loox lighting system. The sophisticated equipment allows comfortable living in the smallest space. This all fits in very well with the new attitude towards life of the growing number of urban nomads who should feel comfortable in such alternative forms of living. When unopened, the interior of the aVOID is a homogeneous, light grey room. The aVoid is probably the smallest movable house ever built in Italy. The interior is defined by a single, grey room, running through the house lengthwise and was developed without any furnishings. The name of the house is a play on words on this empty space, “void”. At the same time, of course, “avoid” means to stay away or do without. The room is outfitted with “devices” concealed in the walls, which fill and change the room depending how it is used. Opened, unfolded or pulled out, with their warm wood look, they convey a homely character. You enter the room is through two French doors on one of the narrow sides. At the opposite end, a narrow bed can be folded down from the wall. Two flat roller stools, hiding next to it in the wall, can dock onto the bed, doubling the sleeping area. The narrow bed can also serve as a sofa, offering seating for up to three people. Cooking is done in the fully functional kitchen, concealed in the functional wall in the central area of the house. The shower and toilet are located behind the wall in the entrance area. COOKING, EATING, WORKING ,AND SLEEPING – MOBILE ON 9 SQUARE METRES. Skylights provide daylight and fresh air. Kitchen doors disappear to the side in the cabinet. A total of 4.81 m wide and 2.40 m high, the house accommodates a kitchen, a living and sleeping area with storage space, as well as a bathroom with shower and toilet. There is room for intelligent storage space around the kitchen. The folding bed also serves as seating furniture. The table and chairs are foldable. The kitchen opens on the opposite side in the functional wall.
