About AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator is a tool designed to help you bring SharePoint master pages, style sheets, Web parts, and elements into compliance with international accessibility standards such as Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act, WCAG guidelines from the W3C, and more. The product is intended to address “out of the box” accessibility issues of the Microsoft SharePoint framework to make it compliant with compliance rules. Implementation services are required for the deployment of the product.

Installing AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator The AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Installation Wizard is available to guide you through the installation process. By following the steps below, you can activate AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator features on your environment. To run the Installation Wizard and complete the installation successfully, the user performing the installation must be a member of the Local Administrators Group and the SharePoint Farm Administrators Group.

To install AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator on SharePoint Web front-end server, complete the following steps:

1. Download the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator ZIP file by contacting an AvePoint representative for links to the package.

2. Unzip the package and navigate to the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator directory.

3. Double-click the Setup.exe file. The AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Installation Wizard Welcome page appears. Click Next.

4. Carefully review the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator License Agreement. After you have read the agreement, check the I accept the terms in the license agreement checkbox. Click Next.

5. Click Browse to specify the location for the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator installation. By default, the installation location is C:\Program Files\AvePoint. Click Next.

6. Please wait while installing AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator. When the installation completes, click Finish to exit the Wizard.

Navigate to SharePoint Central Administration to apply the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator license after you have deployed the Accessibility Accelerator solution. For more details on how to apply and manage the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator license, refer to Applying the License.

Installing the Solution To install AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator solution, complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to the directory where the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator files live. Find AccessibilityAdapterInstallSolution.ps1 in the directory of …AvePoint\AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator\bin\Solution.

2. On SharePoint 2010 servers, navigate to Start > Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products > SharePoint 2010 Management Shell. Open SharePoint 2010 Management Shell and select Run as Administrator. On SharePoint 2013 servers, navigate to Start > Microsoft SharePoint 2013 Products > SharePoint 2013 Management Shell. Open SharePoint 2013 Management Shell and select Run as Administrator.

3. In the SharePoint 2010 Management Shell or SharePoint 2013 Management Shell interface, enter the directory of the solution file AccessibilityAdapterInstallSolution.ps1. For example:

&”C:\Program Files\AvePoint\AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator\bin\Solution\AccessibilityAdapterInstallSolution.ps1”

4. Then, enter the directory of the solution package SP2010AccessibilityAdapter.wsp or SP2013AccessibilityAdapter.wsp. For example:

&”C:\Program Files\AvePoint\AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator\bin\Solution\SP2010AccessibilityAdapter.wsp”

Deploying the Solution To deploy the solution, complete the following steps:

1. In SharePoint, navigate to Central Administration > System Settings > Manage farm solutions.

2. Select the sp2010accessibilityadapter.wsp solution in SharePoint 2010 farm or sp2013accessibilityadapter.wsp solution in SharePoint 2013 farm from the list of farm solutions.

3. Click the Deploy Solution link at the top of the page.

4. In the Deploy Solution page, select the Web application that you want to deploy this solution to.

5. Click OK to deploy the solution to the specified Web application.

Applying the License Customers are provided with access to apply and manage the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator license on SharePoint Central Administration. You need to browse to the license that you have purchased to apply after deploying the solutions. After you have installed and deployed the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator solution, the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Settings field is available to configure in the SharePoint Central Administration.

To apply the license, complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to Central Administration > AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Settings > License Management to go to the License Management page.

2. Click Browse in the Apply License section to select a new license file from the local destination where your AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator license is stored.

3. Click Apply to apply the selected license file. You will receive a message that you Successfully applied the license. You can view information about the current license on the current window.

Activating the Accessibility Features You need to activate the Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint Http Module and Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint features. Refer to the section below for information on how to activate these features.

Activating Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint Activating this feature will enable you to use the Master Page function, and this feature must be activated at the site collection level. In SharePoint 2010 webpage, navigate to Site Settings > Site collection features. In the Feature page, click Activate next to Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 to activate this feature. In SharePoint 2013 webpage, navigate to the settings button ( ) > Site Settings > Site collection features. Click Activate next to Accessibility Adaptor for SharePoint 2013 to activate this feature.

Activating Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint Http Module Activating this feature will enable you to use the About Publishing Overrides function, and this feature must be activated at the Web application level. In SharePoint, navigate to Central Administration > Manage Web Application, and then select the Web application that you are about to activate the feature to. Click Manage Feature on the ribbon to go to the Manage Web Application Feature page, and then click Activate next to Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 Http Module in SharePoint 2010 farm to activate this feature, or Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2013 Http Module in SharePoint 2013 farm to activate this feature.

About Master Pages AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator optimizes the accessibility of SharePoint built-in master pages through activating the Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 or Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2013 feature to enable the text resizing function of the Internet Explorer (IE) browser on the master page with AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Style Sheets, and enable the landmarks function in the Mozilla Firefox browser.

The master pages for SharePoint 2010 provided by AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator include:

• AvePoint_v4.master (Optimization of SharePoint 2010 v4.master)

• AvePoint_nightandday.master (Optimization of SharePoint 2010 nightandday.master)

• AvePoint_minimal.master (Optimization of SharePoint 2010 minimal.master)

• AvePoint_mysite.master (Optimization of SharePoint 2010 mysite.master)

Implementing the Master Pages To implement the master pages provided by the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator, complete the following steps:

1. Complete the steps in the Activating Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint section to activate the Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 or Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2013 feature.

2. For a publishing site, navigate to Site Settings > Look and Feel > Master Page to specify a Site Master Page and/or System Master Page from the drop-down lists for the selected site and all sites that inherit a master page.

About Control Adapters One of the most significant functions of AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator is the group of control adapters. The control adapters facilitate extended accessibility to ensure the output of the Web parts and elements are accessible. Refer to the following sections for more information on AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator control adapters.

• AveWPBlankaltAdapter – This control adapter modifies all of the Web parts by changing any instance of alt=” ” to alt=””.

• AveWPBlankdivAdapter – This control adapter modifies all of the Web parts by removing any instance of <div dir=””>.

• AveWPBlanktitleAdapter – This control adapter modifies all of the Web parts by removing any instance of title=””.

• AveWPChoiceFilterAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Choice Filter Web part:

o Converts Choice Filter to a label.

o Adds a class named “ms-choicefiltertxtbx” to the Choice Filter list view to have the ability to resize this control.

• AveWPDateFilterAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Date Filter Web part:

o Converts Date Filter to a label.

o Adds an IFRAME element saying “The calendar control requires IFRAME support, please ask your System Administrator for help” to the Web part.

• AveWPHtmlFormAdapter – This control adapter adds the following features to the HTML Form Web part adapter:

o Adds a label of “Enter Value” to the HTML Form Web part text box.

o Adds an ID to the HTML Form Web part text box.

• AveWPRelevantDocumentsAdapter – This control adapter adds Alt text to the checkout overlay image displaying "Checked Out" in the Relevant Documents Web part.

• AveWPSearchBoxAdapter – This control adapter adds the following features to the Search Box Web part:

o Adds a label of “Enter Search Words” to the Web part text box.

o Converting the title=”Search…” class=”ms-sbplain” alt=”Search…” to title=”Search…” class=”ms-sbplain”.

*Note: This modification provided by AveWPSearchBoxAdapter is not supported for SharePoint 2013.

o Converts Site URL to a label.

o Converts Site Name to a label.

o Adds an IFRAME element saying “The calendar control requires IFRAME support, please ask your System Administrator for help” to the Web part.

• AveWPSPListFilterAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the SharePoint List Filter Web part:

o Converts SharePoint List Filter to a label.

o Adds a class named “ms-sharepointlistfiltertxtbx” to the SharePoint List Filter list view to allow resizing the control.

• AveWPTextFilterAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Text Filter Web part:

o Converts Text Filter to a label.

o Adds a class named “ms-textfiltertextbox” to the Text Filter text box to allow resizing the control.

• AveWPSuperAdapter – This control adapter contains all of the changes made by the following Web part control adapters:

o AveWPBlankaltAdapter

o AveWPBlankdivAdapter

o AveWPBlanktitleAdapter

o AveWPChoiceFilterAdapter

o AveWPDateFilterAdapter

• AveBlogEditCommentTitleLabelAdapter – This control adapter modifies the Blog comment editing page by adding a label of “Title” to the Title text box.

• AveBlogEditItemAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Blog editing page:

o Converting Title to a label

o Converting Body to a label

o Converting Category to a label

o Adding a label of “Calendar” to the calendar icon

o Adding the Published Hours and Published Minutes label for the corresponding published time drop-down lists.

*Note: This modification provided by AveBlogEditItemAdapter is not supported for SharePoint 2013.

• AveBlogNewCommentAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Blog comment creating page:

*Note: This control adapter is not supported for SharePoint 2013.

• AveBlogNewItemAdapter – This control adapter makes the following modifications to the Blog creating page:

o Converting Title to a label

Implementing the Control Adapters To implement the control adapters through SharePoint Central Administration, complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to Central Administration > AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Settings > Control Adapter Management to go to the Control Adapter Management page. You can see the information on all of the Web applications in the farm and their applied control adapters.

2. Select a Web application from the drop-down list in the Web Application field to apply the control adapter

3. Select a control adapter from the drop-down list in the Control Adapter field to apply it to the Web application specified above.

4. Click Apply to apply the selected control adapter to the selected Web application. You will receive a message that you Successfully applied the control adapter to the selected Web application. Or, click Cancel to return to the previous page without saving any changes

Publishing Overrides AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator delivers a customizable capability that can modify content when being delivered on the fly to correct for accessibility or validation of HTML or XHTML.

Implementing the Publishing Overrides To implement publishing overrides through SharePoint Central Administration, complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to Central Administration > AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Settings > Publishing Overrides Management to go to the Publishing Overrides Management page.

2. Browse the HtmlFixConfig.txt file from the following directory to apply the publishing overrides configurations to the whole farm. For SharePoint 2010, the directory is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\AccessibilityAdapterForSharePoint2010HttpModule. For SharePoint 2013, the directory is C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\FEATURES\AAASP2013HttpModule.

*Note: Please make sure that the file you browsed to is named HtmlFixConfig.txt.

To configure the HtmlFixConfig.txt file, refer to the following instructions:

• SEPARATOR – Keep this setting as the first line in the text file by default. Specify a separator that you are about to use in the later configurations. You can specify any separator, such as |, or ;. By default, | is set to be the separator.

• Old Value1|New Value1 – The Old Value on the left side of the separator | represents the content that you want to override. The New Value on the right side of the separator | represents the content that will take the place of the old values on the webpage.

Each line will be regarded as a piece of rule, and the new value will replace the old value on the webpage.

*Note: Please make sure that the separator you are about to use is not contained in any old values or new values for publishing overrides.

3. After you have browsed to this file, click OK to apply the selected configuration file to the Web applications in the SharePoint farm which have activated the Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 Http Module or Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2013 Http Module

feature. You will receive a message that you Successfully applied the selected HtmlFixConfig.txt file. Or, click Cancel to return to the previous page.

Uninstalling AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator If you want to uninstall the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator, first deactivate all of the features that you have activated. Refer to Using the Feature Activation Tool for more information on how to deactivate the features. Before you deactivate the Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2010 or Accessibility Adapter for SharePoint 2013 feature for the Master Page function, you need to manually change the applied AvePoint master pages back to the original pages.

To uninstall AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator, complete the following steps:

1. Open the Start menu in the Windows on the SharePoint Web front-end server, and navigate to All Programs > AvePoint > Accessibility Accelerator Uninstall.

2. Click Accessibility Accelerator Uninstall to enter the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Uninstallation Wizard Welcome page.

3. Click Next to uninstall the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator.

4. When the uninstallation progress is complete, click Close to exit the Uninstallation Wizard.

Appendix A: Feature Activation Tool The Feature Activation tool is provided to activate or deactivate the features supported by the AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator Control Adapter.

Using the Feature Activation Tool To activate or deactivate features using this tool, complete the following steps:

1. Open the Start menu, and find the Command Prompt.

2. Right-click the Command Prompt icon to load the menu, and then select Run as administrator from the menu to run the Command Prompt.

3. Enter the directory of SP2010AccessibilityAdapterFeatureActivationTool.exe or SP2013AccessibilityAdapterFeatureActivationTool.exe, and press Enter. The parameters that you may need will be displayed.

4. Press any key to continue.

6. A job report will be generated under the directory where the tool lives for each time you run the tool. By default, the directory is C:\Program Files\AvePoint\AvePoint Accessibility Accelerator\bin\Job Reports.
