ED KIOSK

The Emergency Department continually strives to advance the patientcheck-in process with new technologies such as the self-service EDKIOSK. Patients have the option of manually entering in their owninformation or scanning their Driver’s License and the reason for theirvisit. Once their information is entered into the system, the triage nurseis automatically notified of their arrival

REGISTRATION

The registration clerk will obtain information for your medical record,including billing information. The registration clerk will obtain authorizationfor treatment from your insurance company. Your being seen and treatedby the emergency department physician will not be delayed by theregistration process or insurance verification. All patients will be medicallyscreened, evaluated and stabilized regardless of insurance or ability to pay

WAITING ROOM AREA

If you are stable, you may have to wait for a bed to become available.You will, however, be made as comfortable as possible while you waitand the staff will keep you advised as to the status of your visit. Aconvenient Wait Time Monitor is located in the waiting room whichshows approximate wait times for each patient.

TRIAGE Aprox. 260 NSF

A triage nurse will assess you upon your arrival and will evaluate your chiefcomplaint and vital signs. Your priority of treatment is based on theseverity of your illness, as determined by the triage nurse. You will be seenin order of arrival time unless you are determined to be seriously ill orunstable. Patients who are determined to be emergent will be taken to thetreatment area immediately.

RESULT PENDING Aprox 225 NSF

The Results Room is a small, personal environment where you can becomfortable and get individualized attention. The Low-acuity patientswho are unlikely to be admitted can await diagnostic results or beactively monitored by a dedicated nurse, ED rooms and beds may bereserved for higher acuity patients.

CONSULT ROOM Aprox 290 NSF

Since majority of the patients coming to an ED do not have an emergentproblem, they are assessed and treated on outpatient basis in theconsultation rooms.

SUB-WAIT Approx. 500 SNF

Fast track care, often known as urgent or express care, can be a convenientway to get medical help in under 60 minutes.

The room designated for a particular examination to take place. Eachroom is furnished and stocked in the same way to ensure efficientdelivery of care. The room air has to be constantly drawn out and filteredand ventilated outside. This minimizes anything airborne being draftedinto other areas of the ED from the room that has a patient who may becontagious.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ROOMS Approx. 1,205 NSF

Are rooms for treat patients that need mental health services. There aretwo designated behavioral health rooms, each designed with the safety ofthe patient in mind. Each is camera monitored and equipped withfurniture designed for safety and a TV encased in plexiglass. A bathroom isprovided for patients in this area.

EXAM & TREATMENT ROOMS Approx. 1,960 NSF

Nurses stations are decentralized to ensure nurses are close to treatment areas. Four stations form a centrally located square. A medication/supply room is in the middle of nurses stations to ensure quicker access to these materials.

It is a room where physicians, nurses, or other healthcare providersdictate a note in digital audio format to keep track of a patient’s health,history and care. Dictations are then transcribed into a word documentby medical transcriptionists and sent back to the physician electronically.

The room designated for the storage of medicaments, drugs andmedicines to be used on the patient’s treatment.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

“TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE” Based on the nursing theory from I.M King in order to achieve the optimal ED practice.Our mission is to create an optimal patient experience promoting the continuous interaction and integration of the healthcareproviders and the patients in the Emergency Department. By using what we refer to as “TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THEDIFFERENCE”, we illustrate the power of teamwork making the difference in every patient’s health.
