The Belgrade Theatre andNottingham PlayhouseTheatre Company present

Singers, Swastikas and All That Jazz!

The jazz scene in 1930s’ berlinwas one of the most vibrant andexciting in the world - a timecaptured brilliantly in kander &ebb’s musical, Cabaret. but whathappened to those talentedsingers and musicians as the Nazis’ grip tightened?

The Nazis hated jazz - they saw itas decadent and impure. but oneof them, Propaganda Ministryofficial, karl “charly” Schwedler, understood its true power. and he made it his mission toharness that power so the Naziscould use jazz as a weapon of war!

Propaganda Swing throws aspotlight on the gripping truestory of ‘charly and hisorchestra’.

Featuring a fantastic swing bandlive on stage, this enthralling show reveals the charactersbehind the story of how some ofthe greatest german jazzmusicians of the day entered into a Faustian pact with the Fascists -they could keep playing theirbeloved music at the price ofseeing it corrupted for evil.

The captivating combination ofwwII intrigue and drama setagainst a backdrop of glitz, glamour and big bandswagger, makes PropagandaSwing the must-see show of the belgrade’sautumn Season.
