Autumn Chill at Hogwarts – Instructions HP103 (All seams and serged edges are ¼ width)

Fabric & Notions: cottons, light weigh denim or corduroy, stretch knits, snaps and tiny buttons. Long Sleeve Turtleneck select a knit with enough stretch to expand from 1” to 2”

• With right sides together, sew shoulder seams. • Sew center back seam of collar. • Fold collar in half right side out and pin to the neck opening. • Sew in place slightly stretching collar to opening as you sew. • Hem sleeve edge. • With right sides together, sew sleeve to armhole opening. • Sew the front section to the back at the side seam. • Finish hem.

Note: For a quick and easy cable knit or ribbed sweater use a human sweater with a finished edge. Adjust the pattern by omitting the ¼ hem on sleeves and the sweater bodice, placing the pieces directly on the finished edge. The sweater will be a fast sew. To prevent the sewn edge from raveling, apply Fray Check. Four Pocket Pants

• Sew pant yokes to pant back sections. • Fold upper edge of back pockets over, press and top stitch. • Turn pocket edges in ¼” on remaining sides. Press. • Pin pockets in place on back sections and topstitch pockets. • Sew pocket lining to the front pant sections at curved edge. • Clip to seam, turn in and press. • Sew the pocket to the pocket lining. • Baste top and side of pocket. • Serge or zigzag front extensions of pant closure. • Sew center front seam from the dot to the crotch. • Turn the left extension under and top stitch the fly. • Sew front sections to the back sections at the side seams. • Press side seams open and top stitch. • Hem pant legs. • Sew center back seam. • Sew inner thigh seam. • Sew waistband to pants. Leaving a ¼” overhang of fabric at each end. • Zig zag or serge lower edge of the waistband lining. • With right sides together, sew the upper edge of waistband and lining. • Turn the lining into the pants, tucking in edges. Press • Handfinish waistband. • Fit the pants to the doll and sew on snaps. • Use the second waistband cut to make the belt loops. Turn both edges under and

fold in half. Press & topstitch. Place two loops in front and two in the back.

Jacket

• Sew center back seam. • Stitch back and front sections together at the shoulder seams. • Fold collar in half, sew each end, turn and press. • Pin the collar to the neck edges, matching the center of the collar to the center of

the back section. Baste in place. • Sew the center back seam of the jacket facing. • Serge or zigzag the outer edge of the jacket facing. • With right sides together, pin the jacket facing to the jacket and stitch.

• Clip seams, turn facing in and press. • Sew front sections to the back section at the side seam. • Hem sleeve edge. • Prepare sleeve tabs by folding edges under and top stitching. Cut the piece in half

to make two tabs. Pin inside the sleeve as indicated on the pattern. • Sew the underarm seam of the sleeve. Turn and press. • With right sides together, pin the sleeve to the sleeve opening, matching the dot

on the sleeve to the shoulder seam. Sleeve seam goes to the back of jacket. • Fold the upper jacket flaps in half. Sew each side. Turn and press. • Pin flap to each front section as indicated on the pattern piece. Trim excess and

press the flap down. Stitch in place. • Prepare the Cargo pocket. Fold in half. Pleat each side in ¼” to the center to

create the vent. Baste vent in place. Turn all edges under and press. • Sew the pocket to the jacket as shown on the pattern • Prepare the pocket flap. Fold in half; sew each end, turn and press. • Sew the flap to the pocket, fold over and press. • Turn up hem and finish by machine or hand. • Sew on buttons and snaps if desired. •
