If Lifestylers want to send in details of their group name, who was in the group, their school, and about 50 words on what they did, we will print details in the next newsletter. If parents are in agreement we may also be able to include a photograph if it can be forwarded electronically. Send text and photograph to council@ferriby .info or write to the parish council at 20 Narrow Lane, North Ferriby. Easter saw the opening of the long awaited skate park at the playing fields and this has been extremely successful, being used by a wide age band of young boarders and bikers. However, the presence of the skate park does seem to have concentrated the attention of youths and teenagers, male and female, who are not interested in skate boarding, on the playing fields late into the evening and even overnight. Some of the youths hanging around the area are not from this village, but many are. We know that some young people are sleeping out all night at the playing field. We know that a lot of young people are drinking alcohol down there and hiding it when the Police visit. We know that there is criminal damage occurring regularly to buildings and equipment – we have downloaded evidence from the CCTV system and passed it to the Police. We believe that there are drugs being dealt down there. We know that local residents are being disturbed late into the night and that their gardens are being used as toilets. We know quite a few names. Parents - how much of this do you know? Do you know where your teenagers are when they are not home at night? The parish council has no powers over this sort of anti-social behaviour but there are agencies that do and we are liaising with them regularly. The Police and the Anti-Social Behaviour Team at ERYC are fully aware and will be taking action to curb this nuisance. It is better that the village finds its own solution to the problem than the Police.

Easter saw the opening of the long awaited skatepark at the playing fields and this has beenextremely successful, being used by a wide ageband of young boarders and bikers.

However, the presence of the skate park doesseem to have concentrated the attention of youthsand teenagers, male and female, who are notinterested in skate boarding, on the playing fieldslate into the evening and even overnight. Someof the youths hanging around the area are notfrom this village, but many are. We know that someyoung people are sleeping out all night at theplaying field. We know that local residents are beingdisturbed late into the night and that their gardensare being used as toilets. We know quite a fewnames. Parents - how much of this do youknow? Do you know where your teenagersare when they are not home at night?

Parking in School LaneOn several occasions it has not been possible fortraffic to get down School Lane because of carsparked near to Dr Mitchell’s surgery. Can we pleaserequest that visitors to any of the local facilities inthat area ensure that they do not park in such amanner that large vehicles, for example refuselorries, cannot get through. On occasions carsparked inappropriately have created a blockagefor up to 20 minutes.

We have requested thatEYRC considers puttingdouble yellow lines in thisarea but so far thecouncil has beenreluctant to do so. Ifnecessary we shall suggest that those propertiesaffected raise a petition to draw further attentionto this issue.

Following consultation, parish councillors had apresentation from ERYC as to the responsesreceived to the proposal to create a newconservation area in the Parkfield Avenue area.

The day Hull Citycame to Ferriby

The parish council was instrumental in negotiatinga village solution to ease the difficulties of carparking when Hull City AFC came to play in NorthFerriby in July. We organised a meeting betweenthe Club, the Police and the organiser of theVillage Show, which was taking place on the sameday. As a result, the school opened its playgroundfor parking which took 100 cars off the roads, theRiding for the Disabled also opened up some ofits land and the Club arranged for cars to park onthe all-weather pitch.

The Police gave out several-fixed penalty noticesto illegally parked cars during the afternoon andthey directed traffic away from the village quicklyand efficiently after the match finished. Althoughthere were still a lot of cars in the village, it wasfelt that the impact was minimised and hopefullyarrangements can be put in place for similar eventsin the future.

Pump House UpdateThe owner of the former pump house in ChurchRoad has appealed against the enforcement noticerequiring him to reinstate the wall to its originalposition. This will be the subject of a public inquirywhich we have requested be held in the village.

An application has also been submitted to demolishthe building and erect a two-storey dwelling in itsplace. This is presently going through the planningsystem. In the meantime the owner has done worksto the front of the building for which he does nothave permission and which is also different to theplanning application that he has submitted...andso it goes on!
