Uniform Safety Rules

► 4.__Protective clothing will be worn as prescribed by the shop instructor, in accordance with the expected hazards.

► 5.__Protective clothing will be kept in good repair and in generally the same condition as new. Protective clothing will be clean and dirty clothing is not allowed in the shop.

► 6.__Hair should be cut, particularly on the front and sides, so that it isn’t long enough to hang down over the eyes or ears.

Uniform Safety Rules► 9.__Use a FIRE BLANKET to put out a person on fire.

► 10.__Treat the following as hot: intake manifold, exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe, muffler, radiator, water pump, engine, and much more. They can and will burn, but you are the cause. Think!!!

► 11.__It is safer to pull on a wrench than to push. If you do push, use an open hand.

► 12.__A fuse is an electrical safety device. Do not short it!!!

► 13.__If the shop teacher must leave the shop, all tools and equipment will be returned to their storage, all work will stop, and cleanup will start, with the shop foreman in charge.

► 14.__During the school day, only personnel assigned to the shop will be permitted to be in the area, and only at the time assigned.

teacher in charge of the shop at that time for permission to bring work into the shop area. This applies to EVERYONE.

► 16.__No student will operate, touch, feel, or in any way handle any tool or equipment until passing the prescribed operating procedures.

► 17.__Assignment to the shop area in no way implies the permission to use any tools and/or equipment.

► 18.__Obtain the teacher’s permission before MOVING any vehicle within the shop, or into and out of the shop.

► 19.__Do NOT drive more than four (4) miles per hour (mph) while a vehicle is being moved within the shop area.

and roll down a window before entry into or exit from the shop area.

► 23.__Set parking brake and make sure the transmission is out of gear before starting the vehicles engine.

underneath a vehicle by first checking to see no loose objects are on fenders, bumpers or other parts of the vehicle.

► 26.__Do NOT pour or use bulk gasoline in the shop area without the direct supervision of the teacher.

► 27.__Never pour gasoline into the throat of a carburetor without the direct supervision of the teacher.

► 28.__Avoid choking the engine’s carburetor by placing a hand over the carburetor’s throat.

► 29.__Never direct an air nozzle or any air operated tool at yourself or toward anyone.

► 30.__Stand all creepers on end in the designated place.
