How did we do it

1. Setup Development Environment

• Rulestream

• Teamcenter

2. Picked a few sample components

• Figured out how to build the 3D model (1/3 of the work)

• Figured out how to do the 2D drawings (2/3 of the work)

3. Realized that CDE were the way to go

• One to many relations, 200 CDE cover 1500+ parts

4. Analyzed the needed data components to make the framework work.

5. Generate all the needed CDEs

• Containing all the planes, coordinate systems, PMI, … needed

6. Establish relationship in-between CDEs and Parts in Teamcenter

7. Setup Drawing templates in NX

Lessons Learned-Upgrade to latest version … FIRST

Team Center upgrade and NX upgrade

• Teamcenter 8.5 10.1 11.0

• NX 8.5 11.0

• Rulestream 8.11.2 8.13.0

• Most of the issues (Time bandits) we encountered were related to functionality not supported in current version of either Rulestream, NX, or the combination of the two versions.

• IDEAL PLM and Siemens did a good job at capturing there issues and fixing them in next release of Rulestream
