What is automated testing?

Automated testing involves testing your application on many people at once, without a moderator, to get

feedback about the site.

Page 3: Automated testing

What you need

A Website Goals or Key Tasks that you know about

for the website. A testing application. The ability to share a link online with

many.

Page 4: Automated testing

Creating the Test

Write down the key goals or tasks for the site.

Identify any questions you have about how people use the site.

Once you have some questions in mind, you want to start thinking about order.

Don’t forget to ask people for their opinions too.

Best Practices

Vet your participants. Be sure to gather information about the

participants… don’t forget “other”. Identify 3 or 4 key tasks questions. If the

test is longer than 10 minutes, people will most likely not finish it.

Ask follow up questions: Overall, _____: 1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree

Test your test!

Share the Test

You’ll need to identify a way to recruit.

If this is a personal site, try friends, family, social networking, etc.

• If this is a business site, try feedback emails, promotions, integrating with customer service calls, etc.
