From February 2009, Tokheim has been installing the Quantium 500T series dispenser with TQC-VGA.This has been done on many stations across Europe, enabling easy service and information exchangeto the end user. From the first day of commissioning the customers have been using this applicationto its fullest, showing clear transaction information and product advertisement all on one dedicateduser interface screen. TQC-VGA was first introduced to the market during Automechanika 2008, showing to the customerthe benefits and added value of a VGA screen during refuelling of the vehicle. After this succesfull introduction many installation requests were made, resulting in initial installations in February 2009in Spain. In the period after this installation Tokheim launched an extensive roll out program of TQC-VGA through out Europe. Together with the customer, the optimal screen lay-out and information content was defined and implemented. This now allows us to optimally display product advertismentsand at the same time keep the transaction information clear and coherent for the end user.Over the next several months more TQC-VGA will be installed in both the Quantium 410 and Quantium 510 dispenser series. This will cover countries all over Europe showing the full potential ofthe solution whilst taking into account specific customers wishes and requests.

The Tokheim’s TQC-VGA is a Media Head and Calculator all-in-one that provides theoptimal platform to effectively communicate with your target audience. The VGA display stimulates customers to extend their spending habits on impulse purchases as well as additional services such as car wash etc. With an easy-to-use schedule plan, you choose what presentations you’d like to run and when.For example, you may wish to run ads for coffee in the morning, sandwichesat lunch and drinks in the evening. You have the flexibility to schedule car wash ads for the weekend.Tokheim provides a standard LCD Display on all our dispensers. Upgrading to TQC-VGA is simple and easy and it can be retrofitted to the10 series dispensers.A very special feature is the TQC SD-card technology for data/configuration storage. This solution provides a perfect tool for installation, service and repair. For example: a traditional calculator loses all of its stored information (totaliser info etc) and otherdata when the main board is replaced. With the TQC, you simply take the TQC SD-card out of its socket, replace the main board,and restore the SD-card in the new main board. All pump specific data is restored and the dispenser operates just as it did beforethe intervention.

TQC field tests / introduction in the marketAn extensive internal testing program covering all functionalities, configurations and most common communicationprotocols was performed by a team of dedicated testers. This program also included compatibility testing withmajor POS suppliers.The real test nevertheless remains the field test. A field test stretching over 6 months with a total of 100 plusproducts spread over more than 7 countries where performance was closely monitored.All have confirmed that the TQC is ready to launch and become the next generation Tokheim Quality Calculator.The initial release process will commence towards the end of 2010 and then the TQC will be phased inacross the full product range in the most effective and structured manner we can manage at Tokheim whilstretaining open engagement with our customers.Please see the TQC brochure for further details.

Harmful petrol vapour which escapes during the refuelling of cars at service stations willhave to be captured according to an agreement reached with the European Council. Thishas been confirmed by the European Parliament on May 5, 2009.

The European Parliament also confirmed on May 5, 2009 a first-reading agreement whichdemands that stage II petrol vapour recovery technologies will become compulsory at newor renovated service stations with high volume throughput as of January 1, 2012. Almostall service stations (small ones will be exempted) will be obliged to install these new tech-

nologies by 2018. An exception does exist for servicestations used exclusively in association

with the construction and deliveryof new motor vehicles.

In June 2010 Tokheim introduced a new flexible solution to ensure optimal handling andergonomics for all vehicle users; cars and motorcycles. Not only car users but also motorcycle users can now benefit from Tokheim’s ergonomic equipment. The market figures show a steady growth in Powered Two Wheelers (PTW) over the lasttwo decades up to 200% with more than 33 million owners in Europe alone. With the newest release of its Fuel POS, Tokheim has again set the market reference for a high quality system in Petroleum Retail. All recent developments are again inspired by the key elements for which the Fuel POS is already recognised for many years.The focus in the petrol stations is put more and more on security and controls. As a result it is no surprise that a lot of the new features are developingin this area.

One method for delivering to these key demands is to interface with other devices in a station and to get astronger grip on the different activities and events. The connection between the Fuel POS and the Central PetrolManager host of Tokheim additionally allows all events to be remotely monitored. Some examples are givenbelow:• Interface with a cash machine to avoid all the risks associated with having cash on site.• Interface with leak detection systems, becoming more and more important with the growing care and respect necessary to protect our overall environment.

• Interface with vending machines to improve security and avoid theft.

Not only by interfacing to other devices are the security and control enhanced, but alsoby the introduction of new system features, such as but not limited to:• An extended observation of the behaviour on the forecourt allows detection

of potential fraud as early as possible and allows necessary action to be taken sooner rather than later.

• In addition to the existing powerful query mechanism on the electronic logging, a new method for searching events in the logging has been created.

• New sections in the reports provide additional information on special handling and operations performed by the cashiers, for example price overrides on shop articles.

• The possibility to control the power of the pump motors from the Fuel POS ensures that a pump can only be used under control of the Fuel POS.• The possibility to block the sales of some shop items during a certain period of the day or night prevents that the

cashiers perform involuntarily illegal sales transactions, therefore protecting the business and themselves.• The product range offered to the customers in a petrol station becomes wider and wider in scope. The Fuel POS

follows this trend, allowing sales in the station of all product lines in an efficient and effective manner as possible. This has lead to the full integration of selling phone top-ups, fun park tickets, gift cards, etc. In combination with the Tokheim Crypto VGA outdoor payment terminal, this has even allowed this functionality to be brought to the fuelling point, allowing a customer for instance to top-up his phone outdoors.With a direct presence in more than 28 markets, Tokheim remains very close to the end user and continuously listens tothe needs of their customers. Based on this feedback, many new functions have been added to the latest Fuel POS re-leases, resulting in an even more complete system. Some of the latest new functions are:• The ability to work with different merchants across one location, e.g. one merchant selling the fuels,

another selling the shop articles, a third one managing the car wash, etc.• Improved user interface for processing a cashback.• More flexibility in defining the layout of the customer receipts.• Link receipt texts to specific cards or product categories.

New Fuel POS Release

The Tokheim Fuel POS system was one of the first EPOS systems with integrated bankcard paymentapplications to be certified by the Bank Card Payment Authorities.The VISA PA BP compliancy was obtained for Fuel POS release 22 and expires on November 2010.Tokheim, a recognised leader in Bank Card Payment Solutions for the Retail Petroleum Industry hasrenewed its compliance requirements for the Fuel POS system in line with PCI DSS.From Fuel POS release 26 onwards a PCI PA DSS 1.2.1. Compliance will be offered. This is knownas “Card Payment Application 1.0”, PCI PA DSS 1.2.1. The Tokheim Crypto VGA is well known forits intuitive user interface and the high levelof security which has been established andconfirmed through various approval and certifi-cation processes and standards such as PCI UPT,PCI PED together with a long list of local and nationalpayment approval schemes. Recently, we have further enhanced the Crypto VGA design toprovide additional enhanced security against skimming attacks. The latest design incorporates physical protection against skimming technology with an ac-tive loop to detect attacks made to remove and / or damage the anti-skimming protec-tion.Current certificates remain valid into 2017 so at Tokheim we are sure the latest CryptoVGA provides you with the perfect solution for your business today and the foreseeable fu-ture.In addition, Tokheim has developed new functions and features to address the most recentpublished PCI security requirements in preparation for new markets demands. As a result of these developments we are pleased to announce that the Crypto VGA is cur-rently in the certification process for PCI PTS POI v3.0, actual certification is expected withinseveral weeks.Once certified, the Crypto VGA will be the first outdoor payment device to comply with thelatest PCI security requirements.

Tokheim officially announces "Girocard acceptance" at Automechanika 2010 as a new pay-ment method optionally offered in Tokheim's market leading "Crypto-VGA" outdoor paymentterminal.

Girocard, the German domestic bank card scheme managed by ZKA, clearly dominates theGerman retail card market with a market share of more than 90%.

Crypto VGA is the first worldwide PCI-UPT approved outdoor payment terminal providing aunique touch screen user interface. Handling a card transaction at the Crypto VGA is quickand easy for all payment methods, such as bank cards, fleet card, private cards, loyaltycards, and even bank notes. Optimised for use within petroleum environments and applica-tions and pay-at-the pump, the touch screen supports secure and non-secure data entriesincluding PIN.

Crypto VGA forms part of the Tokheim FuelPOS system portfolio delivering solutions to retailpetroleum stations to international and national oil companies and independent merchantsthroughout Europe. Tokheim supports a portfolio of more than 100 card solutions to thesesame international and national oil companies and independent merchants. Solutions covercross border and customer card acceptance fully facilitated utilising the Tokheim authorisationserver environment – called OASE.

The Girocard application in Crypto VGA is compliant with latest ZKA regulations and the spe-cifications of TA7, international EMV standards and PCI security. It is also fully in line withthe planned migration of the ZKA card scheme towards SEPA, the Single European PaymentArea.

Tokheim successfully manages the challenge to seamlessly integrate the new Girocard /ZKA application within the powerful OASE server environment and in alignment with the exi-sting cards solutions. Oil companies and independent merchants can benefit from the Girocard

Social, technological, economical and political forcesdrive alternative transportation developments in generaland more attention for Electric Vehicles (EVs) in spe-cific.
