2013-that we introduced Borgeson'ssea-change steering system for Mopars. If you missed it (why?), you need to know

that it is a radically better power steeringbox that bolts to any Mopar K-member andpitman arm, producing a precise, fast-ratiooutcome with excellent road feel.

There were, however, a few loose

ends. Borgeson supplied semi-universalhose setups, which did work fine, but theextremely stiff (braided stainless) returnhose worried us. Our concern centered on

the potential breakage of the return nippleon the pump or cooler, which are just flimsytubing. The second hassle concerned thesteering column and coupler. Borgesonwanted you to cut your column's inner shaftand pin on a "street rod" U-joint. Besidesmaking the swap essentially irreversible,

to properly bQlt to the Borgeson box, usinga stock-based plunge coupler design.Bergman also supplies a custom adapternipple that allows any Saginaw pressurehose (or the Federal (F-M) and Thompson(TRW) hoses that utilize the same flare fittingto screw right into the Borgeson box, nomods whatsoever required. Bergman also ,

supplies a tube adapter that permits yourOEM 1Yo,,' return hose to slip right on, invirtually the stock location. Cut to the chase:The Borgeson/Bergman setup is now a100% total bolt-in-an hour or so and you'reup and running.

that caused no end of concerns, mostlyrelating to the shaft's collapsibility and the

longevity of the upper bearing, and damageto the new chuck's bearings, too. We didcome up with a workaround, but it requireda trip to the machine shop, welding, etc.

Now one of Borgeson's dealers, PeterBergman of Bergman Auto Craft, Inc., inHuntington Station, NY, (bergmanautocraft.

com) has put all these issues to bed, neatlyand cleanly. We'll call this the B&B steeringupgrade.

Peter now supplies an all-new couplerthat allows any 1962-up Mopar PS column

BREWER'S PERFORMANCE HAS IT ALL !I!

We installed this new stuff in our projectBold Beeper '69 Road Runner, and it was acinch, the hardest part being muscling theold beastie out.

As of this writing, we have accumulatedquite a bit of seat time twisting Borgesonson equally twisty roads, in several cars. Ourjudgment remains unchanged: If you wantyour classic Mopar to steer like your newChallenger SRT8, this is the bolt-in answer_ *

John Stanescu's 'Cuda hits the twistieswith the B&B steering setup. Excellentroad feel completes the suspension!steering update.

Bergman has also scienced out the fittingdeal. Now the stock Mopar ''102''returnhose, and any Saginaw (and some other)pressure hoses will mate right up to theBorgeson's metric fittings.

Bergman supplies this all-new, readyto-rock coupler setup, which meansany column will now bolt right up to theBorgeson box, in any muscle-era Mopar.
