About VISThe Visual Immersion System (VIS™) is a
proven method for supporting communication and teaching language skills to individuals with
autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities.
The VIS™ is a researched based, practical and comprehensive framework and
instructional philosophy developed at Boston Children’s Hospital after two decades of research and clinical implementation and
now utilized in many schools. The VIS™ includes a strong focus on the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to help promote measurable progress in learners with a broad range of diagnoses, profiles, communication profiles and goals. It is designed to support, complement and enhance the use of spoken language and
instruction by employing the effective, combined use of visuals, including videos
and photographs, with technology.

Classroom Outreach Program
Why VIS™The Visual Immersion System™ (VIS™)

• an increase in focus, attention and compliance
• demonstrable carryover of skills across school, home and community environments
• parent satisfaction with their child’s increased ability to communicate wants and needs
The VIS™ is effective with students with many disabilities and can be incorporated
in the instruction within any special or general education classroom.
