Author’s Purpose
Why did the author write this book?
To
Persuade Us
To talk the reader into something
and make them believe it! Watch
out for the POWER of persuasion!
Persuasive
Polly
Listen to me! I am
VERY convincing! I
can make you change
the way you think or
feel!
I am persuasive Polly. I write to
persuade. I just bet that I convince
you of just about anything using my
explicit detail and power of
persuasion!
I wish we could start school in
September. The weather is so much
cooler and recess will not be nearly
as hot as it is right now. It will also
give us more time to rest during the
summer and our brains will be ready
for the new year. I just know that I
would try so much harder if I could
just have a few more days of summer
vacation!
Author’s Purpose
Why did the author write this book?
To
Inform Us
To provide the reader with new
information and teach us things
that we did not know. Look for the
FACTS!
I am a genius. I can
give you the facts on
just about anything!
You will learn so
much from me!
I am Informative Ian. I can give you the
inside scoop on just about anything and
everything you want to know. I can
teach you new and interesting
information! Not that I am
bragging…but I am kind of a genius!
Have you ever taken a look at an African
Elephant’s trunk up close and personal? Did
you know that just the trunk on this
fascinating creature can be up to seven feet
long? It can suck as much as two gallons of
water into it’s trunk at one time. That is like
two gallons of milk! They can also use this
magnificent trunk to make loud trumpeting
noises to scare away predators. I wish my
nose could do all of that!
Author’s Purpose
Why did the author write this book?
To
Entertain Us
To make the reader feel something:
Happy
Sad
Scared
Curious
I am entertaining Elvis. I am here to
entertain you and make you take on the
feelings in my story. I use descriptive
vocabulary that appeals to your five
senses! Listen closely as I tell you a
story about my dog named Teddy Bear.
One day, Teddy Bear decided to take a little trip
around Graceland. Now, a little something you should
know about Teddy Bear is that he could really get
down a boogie! He was convinced he could teach other
animals how to dance. He went to the horses, but they
just tripped over their big cloppy feet! He then moved
on to the cows but they were too lazy to mooooove! He
then tried to teach the cats but they must of have
been FRADY CATS because they were scared of their
own shadow! Teddy Bear decided to go back to his own
Elvis who would break it down with him all night long!
