Group InsuranceHow the Insurance Billing Works
Did you know?• Insurance billings are all driven by enrollment
• Employees have 31 days to enroll after hire or qualifying event
• Regular insurance billings are available on ESS the 2nd working day of the
month and payment is due by the 15th
What are your responsibilities?• Billings should be reviewed and posted by the Authorized Agent. If they are
not posted by the 18th of the month, NDPERS will post them.
• Adjustments are created and posted by NDPERS (only) when an enrollment
takes place after regular billing has passed.125
Enrollment ChangesGroup Insurance
• If enrollment changes are made before the billing is posted, the billing will correct the next time the report is opened and reloaded• The reload process looks for any enrollment changes since the report was created or last
reload• If changes to the billing are needed, it is best to take care of this before the billing is posted
• If an enrollment is added or changed after the billing is posted, an adjustment will be created• Adjustments with a positive balance are a balance due, so payment will need to be made• Adjustments with a credit balance will apply to any unpaid report or a future report
