Howdy Wranglers,
Last week, the school was fortunate to receive a visit from internationally-known author, Brandon Mull, creator of children’s series: Beyonders, Fablehaven and now… The Five Kingdoms. For him, it was a homecoming as he lived in our community many years ago as a child (right on Knightsbridge Ave.) Students were clearly enthralled to see the literary equivalent of a rock star in their midst as he shared about his craft. His presentation focused upon the importance of creativity and imagination. It was a great experience for the kids to see a fine example of someone who reached for his dream and persisted to become a renowned author. I thank Mrs. Tracy and parent leader, Lisa Cusworth for making this visit happen for our kids!
I also thank and send out words of congratulation to all the families who participated and supported our remarkable International Night last Friday, and I send special thanks to Toni Quinn for personally creating the passports for the evening.
This week, students in grades 3 – 5 will begin testing within the state’s new assessment system which is almost entirely computer-based. There will be no score reports for students or schools this year. The function of the field test is to “work out the bugs” in terms of technology challenges at the school, district and state level. For parents of students in grades 3-5, look for an email notification on Monday, March 31 that provides more details on the upcoming testing.
Happy Trails!
Mr. Ridge
