MOOREA“The Magical Island”

Moorea, soaring out of the ocean in an explosion of greenvelvet pinnacles, has long been the choice of painters andwriters. A wide, shallow lagoon surrounds the mountains, where threads of waterfalls tumble down fern-softened cliffs. The island is encircled with simple pastel-painted villagessurrounded by hibiscus gardens and exotic birds. ATV toursare a popular way to take in natural wonders such as these or other pursuits, like whale watching and hiking thelegendary Opunohu and Cook Bays. For those lessadventurous, Moorea’s white sand beaches are relaxing, laid-back alternatives.

HUAHINE“Garden of Eden”While Huahine has all of the natural beauty of the other islands, it is more remote, and may be the best ambassador of Tahitian culture, archaeology, and mystery. The island is home to the largestconcentration of pre-European ancient temples, known as marae, of which local guides are quite knowledgeable. A small, scenic roadruns throughout Huahine, giving you a glimpse of beautiful vistasand quaint villages, where local arts and crafts are displayed andsold. Vacationers often rent their own transportation to travel thisroad and to visit the banana, coconut, and melon plantations thatmake the air so fragrant.

There are many things that make Huahine stand out among theSociety islands, but perhaps the most treasured one is the muchsaught after idea of solitude and quiet.

Similiar to its cousins Raiatea and Taha’a, Huahine is far less touristedthan Moorea, Bora Bora, and Tahiti (and that’s a good thing)! Thisisland is so relaxing and stress free that many people pick it as their favorite Society Island after traveling here just once.

There’s also an abundance of long and beautiful white sandy beaches on Huahine ... and the good news is that, on this island, most of them are easily accessible for total quality beach-and sun-worshipping.
