Considerations for picking your location

AUSTRALIAQUEENSLAND –

Queensland is home to some of the nicest beaches in Australia (*sigh from other states!). The Sunshine State offers picturesquebeaches, breathtaking landscapes and fantastic weather. The Gold and Sunshine Coasts offer some amazing options with flexibility, and The Whitsundays are fabulous for those tropical island getaways, making you feel truly on holiday!

If your wedding is in the summer months, remember that this is storm season so be prepared with an alternative venue, and also remember that the sand can actually burn bare feet.

If you've always dreamed of having your wedding in one of SA’s picturesque national parks, this could be an easy decision. The national parks provide gorgeous surrounds for a unique wedding location.

Most famous for the stunning Barossa Valley, this is a well-loved and popular wedding destination with a gorgeous array of elements to create your perfect day. From historic churches to stunning gardens with a unique range of reception venues showcasing Barossa produce and world-famous wines. Picture-perfect backdrops for your photos and beautiful accommodation make it a perfect choice.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA –

The Margaret River Wine Region is about 280 km south of Perth, lapping the Indian Ocean. The whole area has a lovely temperate climate, so no hot summers or cold winters, so you can have a lovely wedding year-round. Combining vineyards with ocean views, and a beautiful climate – the perfect choice!

Broome, in the top end of WA was named after the telegraph cable that connected to Indonesia in 1889. 6km from Broome is the stunning Cable Beach, famous for the 22km of white sand and clear blue water, as well as spectacular Kimberley sunsets. The most iconic image of Cable Beach are the camels, that can be hired for your wedding – bit different from your usual limo!

To legally marry in Australia, you need to:• Be unmarried, widowed or divorced.• Not be related (bloodline relationship).• Be 18 years of age or over.• Any witnesses must be 18 years of age or over.• Both spouses must be physically present to sign all

forms.

You will also need to provide:• Birth certificate • Passport ID page or Drivers Licence• Divorce Certificate/Spouse Death Certificate - for each

of you where applicable, if either of you has been married previously or widowed (each time).

• Completed Notice of Intent to Marry Form.• Witness full names

Legal considerations for

GETTING MARRIED IN AUSTRALIA

Getting married in Australia is a pretty easy process, however we do have to start your documentation with plenty of notice.

Once the location has been decided, and the venue has booked your celebrant (or you have your own), a Notice of Intent to Marry must be completed at least 1 month prior to your wedding date. All the correct documentation and procedures will be advised to you.

Venues will often pass on your details to the local, preferred celebrant, who will contact you to proceed with the paperwork etc.
