Seventy per cent of Australia is desert. In deserts there is very little rain. When it rains it rains heavily! The central is in the middle of the desert. Aborigines did not come because it was a place of death!!!!!
Deserts
In the rainforests there are lots of trees. The rainforests has lots of plants that grow together. The rainforests are opposite to deserts.
Rainforests
Australia’s biggest coastline is 36,700 kilometres long. The coastline has lots of carnivore crocodiles. In the north near Darwin it is steaming hot. Mangroves grow in the shallow water.
Coastline
The great barrier reef is on the coast side of Queensland. The coral on the great barrier reef has taken many millions of years to form. The great barrier reef is 1900 kilometres!!

Many explores went searching for an inland sea. It’s bed is made of baked mud and salt. South Australia has a pink lake and a blue lake. The blue lake is at Mount Gambier.
Lakes
The highest point in Australia is Mount Kosciusko. Which is 2228 metres high. It is covered with snow in many months.
Alps
Lots of Australians live in houses all around Australia. At Coober Pedy, where opals are mined, people live in dugouts. In Coober Pedy they even have hotels!!
Cities and towns
One of the most important buildings is the parliament house in Canberra. The designer made the place look special by using colourful colours like blue, red and green.
