Welcome Speech Good Morning All, On behalf of SCIT, we welcome you to Graffiti 2011 and its Marketing event Aurora. It gives us great pleasure, to have with us on our panel of judges, Mr. Prateek Rastogi, Program Manager at the biggest software company of India, Tata Consultancy Services, Pune. Mr. Rastogi has completed his Bachelors of Engineering (Electronics) from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, batch of 1997. He has an overall IT experience of 14+ years starting with core development to delivery management along with hands-on experience on project management, people and customer management. We welcome you, sir, to Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology and are grateful to you for gracing this marketing strategy event, Aurora at Graffiti 2011, with your presence. We also take this opportunity to welcome on our panel of judges, Mr. Prashant Rastogi, Functional Consultant for the Enterprise Resource Planning Domain, at one of the world’s biggest consulting firms, Accenture. Mr. Prashant is batch 2005 pass out from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune, coupled with a Bachelors of Engineering in Information Technology. He has close to seven years of precious experience and has previously worked with companies like Tata Technologies, SAP etc. to name a few. Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology welcomes you to Aurora, Graffiti 2011 and is grateful to you for gracing it with your presence.

Aurora is an event and a fun competition where you can all test your Innovative and creative acumen. By definition An aurora is a natural light display in the sky caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere and we are expecting the same light to be displayed right here at SCIT by the clash of all you brilliant minds. We once again welcome all you energetic participants in the Auroral Zone. Aurora is divided into 3 phases each one being elimination, and will require you to be at your creative best to reach till the end. What we and the respected judges would be looking for in you is how you innovate in the situations given to you, and what clarity of thought and creative ideas you bring out to compete with the best.

AURORA ROUND 1All teams would be participating in this first round of Aurora. Ill be explaining you the rules and also you can refer the handout given to you for the same. If you still have any doubts , our volunteers are there to help , you can call them for any further clarifications. One very important point, SINCE THIS IS NOT AN EXAM , PLEASE DONT CHEAT. Keep the discussions limited to your team only. RULES I1. Each group has to send one representative who will be blindfolded and will pick up a product from the basket 2. He/ She will be given 10 seconds to identify the product based upon the products dimensions, shape and size. The teams will not be allowed to smell, taste or try to alter it i.e open the lid etc.3. The member will then be sent back to their respective teams and he will try to explain the product to his fellow team members. The teams will have to identify the product and also the other probable products of the same shape, size etc. There are points for the right guess of the product.4. The teams will then need to come to a conclusion as to what the product was and will be given 10 minutes in total for preparing an Advertisement/Skit/Poster and a suitable tagline to sell the chosen product.5. No external props will be allowed to be used except for the available stationary.6. Presentation time given to each team is 2 minutes. Make sure you all are quiet and do not disturb the team presenting its idea in front of you during these 2 minutes.7. The word of the jury will be final and no request or arguments challenging the same would be entertained.8. Make sure you do not exceed the prescribed timelines. GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT. ALL THE VERY BEST TO ALL YOU TEAMS!!!!!

AURORA ROUND II

Congratulations to all the winners of the first round. We are delighted to have you here. The second round is designed to test your skills about the marketing of products being done around us. Be it Newspapers, Television, Radio or even Internet we find many brands being marketed with catchy taglines and photographs. This quiz will test your knowledge of the same. The rules of the 2nd round follow. Please also refer to your hand-out of the same.

RULES- II

1. We will be showing clues on the screen related to Product/Brand/Items we are well aware with. All you need to do is identify the correct product.2. The clues could be anything from taglines to a riddle leading to the name/logo or utility of the product.3. Each team will be put up a question on screen which will entitle them to 50 marks for a correct answer and 10 marks for an incorrect answer.4. If a team fails to answer a question correctly or decides to pass on to the next team, who will be entitled to 20 marks for a correct answer and no deductions for an incorrect answer. The Question will be similarly passed to all of the teams until the correct answer is given or all the teams have had a shot at it.5. Thereafter the next team will be asked its question. Each team will be asked at-least 3 direct questions. 6. The 3 top teams will be going forward to battle in the third and final round.7. No prompting of answers should be done as it will help your opponents only. The teams are liable to be disqualified for prompting the answers.

AURORA-III All of you brilliant minds will now battle for the ultimate prize of this event and certainly we have seen aurora -the shining light one too many times here. It has been a brilliant ride till now and we would like to see the same enthusiasm in the final round here. So, Gear up for the final battle.

RULES-III

1. Each team will be allowed to choose a set of props from certain options.1. The gravity of the challenge will be to correlate the images and make a meaningful service/ product/concept out of the given set.1. The set will be consisting of distinctly unrelated/related things, and the team would be required to think like an astute marketer and market the product /service/concept they have identified.1. The innovation and creativity required in this round is the maximum and we are looking for various ideas to market the product in the form of an Advertisement/Poster also with a distinctly recognizable tagline and a proper marketing strategy.1. Each team would be allow to assume a budget of rupees 5 lacks to strategies there product /service/concept.1. The time for preparation is 15 minutes and for presentation along with cost benefit justification of your idea is 3 minutes.
