Government

Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro are governed by a council-manager form ofgovernment that originated in the county seat of Staunton in 1908. Staunton has seven councilmembers, Waynesboro ve members, and Augusta County has a seven-member Board ofSupervisors. The metro area maintains comprehensive plans, and zoning and subdivisionordinances. Craigsville is the only incorporated town in the region.

Taxes

Medical care is provided to area residents at Augusta Health, an independent 255-bed state-of-theart hospital located in Fishersville.
