AUGUST VOLUME VI 2013 Well 6 months are past. That is not really a long time. One might ask the question “what can a person do in 6 months to really change anything?” Well the Biggest Loser Program has shed some light on that question. You can lose 25% of your body weight! You can loose 100 pounds.! You can accumulate 800 miles of exercise! Those are just a few things that some of our individual contestants accomplished. More importantly though, maybe you learned that you can change your outlook on life. Maybe you reminded yourself that you can set goals and reach them. Maybe you were reminded that you can do more than you thought you could. What can a group of over 50 people accomplish in 6 months? They can lose almost 1,000 pounds (989)! They can lose 9% overall of their total body weight. They can accumulate over 15,000 miles! More importantly though, we have seen that in a 6 month period we can come together as a group to work toward common goals, individually and as a team! That has been the most impressive thing to me. Each of you worked so hard to improve your health but you also encouraged each other to reach your goals. In 6 months we have truly made a positive impact on our workplace. The hard numbers are important but the intangible benefits of your work are priceless. Energy to keep up with your family. Adding years to your life. Building confidence in yourself and in others. Remembering that spirit you have inside to do/be better. Please don’t let go of these things. July 25th was the end of this round of the Biggest Loser Competition but it was not the end of your road. Take what you have learned and continue to make better decisions concerning your diet and exercise. What you have accomplished since January 25th has truly been remarkable! I cannot tell you how many people that I have told about your progress who have been blown away by your success. I have been encouraged by your success. Each story you tell me of some small victory lets me know that this was a good thing to do. Each story you tell me encourages me to try to serve you all better. Thank you for your commitment to this! If you did not participate in the competition this time and would like the chance, we will have another opportunity for you. If you did participate and just want to keep working with your coworkers, you to can join in the fun again. So when it comes up again, go for it. Well 6 months are past. That is not really a long time. One might ask the question “what can a person do in 6

months to really change anything?” Well the Biggest Loser Program has shed some light on that question. You can lose 25% of your body weight! You

can loose 100 pounds.! You can accumulate 800 miles of exercise! Those are just a few things that some

of our individual contestants accomplished. More importantly though, maybe you learned that you can

you thought you could.

The battle for the top four spots in the Biggest Loser Competition for percentage weight loss has been

intense. When the dust settled, Joe Pirtle came out on top with John Frazier coming in a close second. Rounding out the top four were Mike

McLamb and Mike Morgan. These four guys worked very hard to shed the pounds by watching their diets and

exercising. All four recorded high mileage which shows that hard work and dedication do pay off! Maybe when you see them around you can ask them

how they did it. I am sure they would be happy to share ideas that worked for them. Congratulations guys! It has

been a pleasure to see less and less of you all!

Congratulations To Our Top 4 Milers!

WAYNE ON THE RUN! WHO GOT THERE FIRST? HE’S COMING TIM!

MILEAGE MASTERS!

Wow! The contestants got serious in going for the most miles. Mike McLamb was steady in his pace and ended up in

1st place with 801 miles! Wayne Dobbins pushed hard the last 3 months with some incredible mileage and moved into 2nd place. Following up

Wayne was Jeff Marksberry and Joe Pirtle. There was definitely a correlation between weight loss and

exercise. However, you can’t out train your diet. Those who were most successful in the program combined a good diet with their exercise to achieve

their goals. Our group put in enough miles to go more than half way around the earth! Way to go everybody!

GOING FORWARD

Those contestants who continue to go to OHG every month to weigh in from now to January 23, 2014 will be eligible

to win a monthly prize! The employee with the biggest percentage loss for the month will get an extra vacation day! All 1st year Biggest Loser Contestants

are eligible to win again. Contestants are only eligible to win the monthly prize once. To be eligible for the

monthly prize you must have recorded at least 2 miles per day for that period. (You can only win if your previous

month weigh in was at or below the weight from the prior month).

I will be bringing around the log sheet for the next 6 months and explaining

the rules to everyone. There will be

further opportunities to hit benchmarks relating to weight loss and mileage!

Also, we will continue to put out the

News Letter monthly and keep the web site updated with mileage and weight loss numbers. So continue to turn in mileage to the ladies at OHG!

So don’t stop now, let’s keep the momentum going! Don’t forget to check in on the web site for Biggest

Loser Information along with other Health & Wellness information!

Remember this term. Biggest Loser Buddy. Next January we will start a program where those of you who have been so successful can help out a coworker seeking to improve their health. I will ask you to help out and be an accountability partner for one or more coworkers. This will help out someone else and help you also. Your success will be tied to their success and vice versa.
