Per Sec. 12-116. (d) – (e) of the Duncanville Municipal Code, the owner of private real or personal property is responsible for the removal of any affixed graffiti on their property. The property owner could be given a notice by Code Compliance requiring the removal of the unpermitted markings, initials, slogans, or drawings, written or sketched with crayon, chalk, spray paint, engraving, or by some other means, on a sidewalk, wall of a building, fence or structure within seven calendar days.

Where not to park a car in the City of Duncanville?

According to Municipal Code Sec. 12-131 it is against the law to drive, leave, stand, or park or allow to be parked any vehicle on an unimproved surface in a front yard or side yard on any residential property. Parking or standing of vehicles is permissible on an unimproved surface if an existing residence is served by a driveway which does not constitute an improved parking surface as of January 18, 2000.

When it comes to trimming trees keep these two measurements in mind.

Municipal Code Sec. 12-54. states that trees shall be trimmed so as to avoid causing a hazard to public places. The minimum overhang shall be 7 feet above sidewalks and above top of street curbs, 14 feet above street surfaces, 14 feet above alley paving if the alley right-of-way is improved, and 14 feet above the grade of the entire alley right-of-way if the alley right-of-way is not improved. The minimum overhang of street curbs may be seven feet when the tree is at least 150 feet from an intersection and not obstructing traffic control signs.

How tall should the lawn be?

Per the Duncanville Municipal Code Sec. 12-48. it shall be unlawful for any person owning, claiming, occupying or having supervision or control of any real property, occupied or unoccupied, within the corporate limits of the city, to permit weeds, brush or any objectionable or unsightly vegetation to grow to a greater height than 12 inches upon such real property within 150 feet of any property line which abuts street rights-of-way, alleys, utility easements, subdivided additions, developed property or any buildings or other structures. It shall be the duty of such person to keep the area from the line of his property to the curbline next adjacent to it, if there is a curbline, and if not, then to the edge of the pavement, free and clear of the matter referred to above.

Sec. 12-49. goes on to state that it shall be the duty of any person owning, claiming, occupying or having supervision or control of any real property referred to in section 12-48, to cut and remove all weeds, brush and other objectionable or unsightly vegetation as often as may be necessary to comply with section 12-48, and to use every precaution to prevent the same from growing on such premises.
