The "Quilt Sisters" program is designed to pair experienced guild members with new members to help make them feel welcome: answer any questions about guild activities and quilting in general. This program is available to any new member
who chooses to take advantage of the program but it is not a requirement to become a member.
Sharon Morkal will head up this program.
Show us what you do or learn something new!
Bring something for show and tell,
attend workshops, or donate a quilt and be en-
tered into a drawing for a free membership.

WORKSHOP INFORMATION From Evie Fell
Workshops/open sews will be held on the Sat-urday after the KPQG monthly meeting. Anyone is welcome to come. You may bring something to work on and you may participate in the monthly project. There is a $5 fee for workshop participation. Workshops are held at Indiana Wesleyan on Markland Avenue from 10am to 3 pm. Our August Open Sew/Workshop will be held August 24(prior to our August monthly meeting) at Kokomo Library South Branch on Center Road. Our focus will be charity Sewing. The plan is to spend from 10—12 in the Tulip Room sorting and cutting donated fabric into block kits. Then 12—3 we have reserved the big room for our regular open sew workshop focused on making small (cuddle/lap) charity quilts. September’s workshop will be held on the Sat-urday after our monthly meeting in September, at Indiana Wesleyan from 10—3. Our featured learning experience will be lead be long time member Jan Adler. This Month’s Guest— Vickie Smith
Vickie Smith grew up in Indiana , learning to sew Barbie doll clothes. After marrying, she moved around the coun-try and started quilting in 1992, after the birth of her son. She took to quilting rapidly, by taking classes and watch-ing available shows on television like Quilt in a Day and Alex Anderson. Her first quilts were traditional, but she begin to expand her works as modern fabrics became available. Today her quilts have a scrappy modern look. She has developed an interest in specialty rulers from Jaybird rulers, Spripology rulers and the Quick Curve ruler. She works at Quilt Expression, teaching a variety of classes that use specialty ruler techniques. She also
SCARLET THREAD RETREAT We are SO excited to announce our first Scarlet Thread Retreat Friday, October 18th and Satur-day, October 19th. Come spend the weekend sewing with your friends with no interruptions, no cooking, no cleaning, no husbands! Retreat will be hosted at the Fulton Community Building, Friday 3 pm—? And Saturday 10 am—?. Cost is $40/person and includes Friday dinner, Satur-day brunch and Saturday dinner. Coming from a distance? Hotels are available in Rochester, Peru and Logansport! Or sleep in your own bed:)
