Contributed by Jody Van Cooney The Pilot Club does not fly planes; it has a more important mission. The Pilot Club of Fort Myers is a part of Pilot International, which was founded in 1921 as a volunteer service organization where there are over 400,000 members in 400 clubs internationally from Japan, Singapore, Bahamas, and Canada and throughout the United States. The Fort Myers club was chartered May 27, 1954, and has been in continuous operation for 60 years. The club helps organizations that seek to improve the quality of life for individuals with brain-related disorders through volunteer activities, education, andfinancialsupport.Theladiesandgentlemen of the Club have dinner and a meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at the Whiskey Creek Country Club. The Club supports the following local organizations.• Project Livesaver began as a partnership of the Lee CountySheriff’sofficeandthePilotClubofFortMyersin2006. The club continues to be the main source of income to support the program. Individuals with Alzheimer’s and Autism, as well as others with related brain dysfunction disorders that tend to wander, wear a personalized wristband that emits a tracking signal. When caregivers notify the LeeCountySheriff’sOffice that theperson ismissing, asearch and rescue team responds to the wanderer’s area and starts searching with a mobile locator tracking system. By Mary Ann Spry Boy, the last minutes of some of the PGA tournaments this summerhavebeenquitethefinishes!TheLeaderboardwaschanging with each hole as the players approached the 18th hole. It does keep you on the edge of your seat and makes for some exciting golf with these great players. Four of our LLGA-18 ladies enjoyed the LEGA event hosted by the Seven Lakes Country Club last month. No one on the Leaderboard from our league, but a fun day and great lunch with the seven Lakes ladies and golfers from eight other clubs. It was such a nice surprise here at the league I play with in Colorado to have our own LLGA-18 member, Dotty Fritze join us. She is a great addition to our league and what fun to play together out here too! We do have our challenges here, but we shall prevail. Dotty had played in this league about 10 years ago, so many of the gals are still here that know her and welcomed her with open arms.

LLGA-18 Ladies League Happenings Not a lot going on with our 18-hole league until fall, so I am hoping all are enjoying your summer and playing some great reciprocals. With the weather so warm, perhaps nine holes may be all some can play, which brings to mind that you need to stay hydrated and can cool off with the summer favorite…watermelon! It is refreshing after a round of golf! Well! Can you imagine my surprise when I cut our watermelon last night to discover it was bright “yellow”? It looks like any other on the outside. I cut it as I usually do in convenient pieces, and when at the supermarket the next day inquired about this unusual melon. Was it supposed to be yellow? Well! Yes, there is a yellow watermelon, tastes like watermelon, and even refreshes like watermelon. Another day of new discovery!

Dotty & Mary Ann enjoy Colorado golf together!

Knew there were yellow tomatoes - but a yellow watermelon?

For those new to the Landings, please check with the Pro-shop for information about the ladies leagues. We would enjoy having you golf with us and get to know you too.Have a wonderful month and enjoy the joys of summer!

Rediscover the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein in this delightful musical revue that takes the audience on a romantic and nostalgic journey through some of the greatest Broadway hits of all time such as Oklahoma, Carousel, The Sound of Music, South Pacifi c, State Fair, The King and I, and many, many more.

When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws, including a ban on dancing, so he and some of the other kids decide to shake things up! The Oscar-nominated Top 40 score

includes Holding Out For A Hero, Paradise, Let’s Hear It For The Boy and the title song, Footloose.

General Manager’s Report

Picnic Pointe - We had completed the removal of the sections of bamboo on the Pointe, and we have completed the installation of the new sidewalk around the point and will be starting the landscaping the week of May 29. We were waiting on the issuance of the permit for the Pavilion replacement but it was rejected by the county. We have answered those questions andmade the requestedmodifications and areresubmitting to the County. Turn-around time is expected to be about two weeks; however, we have requested the demolition permit in order to do that portion of the work and prep for the beginning of construction as we await the permit. We expect to be complete within two and a-half months of the issuing of the permit. Parcel 5 - The Ad Hoc Committee met on April 30 to further review the site plan and list of potential uses for the site. The committee decided that the uses should be limited to non-commercial development only, must maximize the beneficialusebymembers, andbelimitedtorecreationaluse. As such, the Committee reviewed the list of potential uses gathered, and narrowed the possible ideas for consideration down to: Tennis Courts (based on further formal study), Pickle Ball, Bocce, Basketball, and associated parking, or the simple option of doing nothing with the site other than cleaning up and landscaping. Other issues needing consideration upon development willbesiteimprovementsneededsuchasfill/levelinganddrainage, parking, water/sewer, restroom, irrigation and landscaping, electrical, storage, walkways/paths, trash, and seating/canopy. I have obtained preliminary information on costs and dimensions for the various suggestions and will complete a potential layout and estimates for Committee review. At the appropriate time, we will schedule a Town Hall meeting to obtain further member input and comment on the options prior to presenting to the Board recommended options for use of Parcel 5. I would hope to have the Committee proposals ready for a Town Hall meeting sometime in December. A chain link fence runs from McGregor Blvd. to the river that separates the Landings from the Town and River community. This fence varies in height from two feet tall toapproximatelyfivefeettall, andisinneedofrepair.TheBoard previously approved moving forward with the repairs. We are scheduling repairs and changes in fence height where landscaping access permits, and will complete over the summer. Lake bank restoration projects will continue over the summer with the last three lakes and the last of the inter-connecting pipe restorations being scheduled starting on June 29. Estimated time to complete is six weeks. We had submitted our flood policies and applicable buildingelevationcertificatestoFloodInsuranceRevisions,Inc. (FIR), which are being evaluated for possible exception to theprimaryfloodzonemapping, andseekingamodificationtoremovethemandatoryneedforfloodpolicies.Therearefive policies (buildings) under review, one ofwhich has

June 24, 2015 already been approved for LOMA. The desired result is to remove, where possible, the mandatory requirement for the floodpolicies, whichwillallowustopurchasepoliciesatour discretion, which will cost less by no longer being in the primaryfloodplain.Thisisanongoingprocess. We have begun anew to schedule the marina channel dredging that was previously postponed in order to complete D-Dock. This includes dredging some high spots within the marina. The permit was previously obtained and is still valid, and we have updated the dredging survey to current conditions. At last writing, we were working to complete the updating of bids as the originals were too old to accept, andwereinnegotiationstofinalizeourcontractorchoice. However, our preferred contractor, Honc, has decided they no longer wish to be in the dredging business and concentrate on docks and seawalls, and pulled out of the project. We are now talking with other contractors who bid the project to replace Honc. Of seven contractors we sent bids to, four declined to respond and one cited lack of off-load site. Our goal continues to be to get the dredging done this summer, but securing a new contractor and scheduling will be a challenge, and is ongoing at this time. As a reminder, the LYGTC will be changing from a two-account statement billing system to a single-account statement system. This will mean that both House and Dues accounts would be combined so there is a single bill. This will save considerable labor and some cost at the least. More information was provided in the recent billing cycle to all members including a Question and Answer summary, but it isplanned tobecomeeffectivewith thenewfiscalyearstarting October 1, 2015. Remember to sign up for direct debit under the new system (even if you are direct debit now) by contactingtheAdministrationOfficebyphoneorE-mail,oraccess the sign up for on the web site under Member Central. The ThorGuard lightning protection system has been installed and is operational. We have completed the community perimeter wall repairs andpaintingandhavejustcompletedthefinalinspectionforfollow-up. We have competed the addition of two benches and a shade shelter next to the 4th Tee. In keeping with landscaping improvements, we have removed the old hedge that separates the Wheelhouse parking lot from the entry driveway, which had degraded over the years. We have removed the old hedge, improved soil conditions, make corrections to the irrigation system, and replanting a new hedge. This project is now complete. We will be installing a new water fountain at the Marina restroom by C-Dock. Tennis Parking Lot (Flagship Dr. side) - we have completed an engineering review of the options for parking while improving the lot by adding a new, separate exit lane. We have been able to accommodate the exit lane while creatinganadditionalfive(5)parkingspacestothelot.Wehavesubmittedforthepermitandarewaitingonfinalbidsfrom contractors. The actual work is slated to start in late July, as always based on the issuance of the permit timely

and selected contractor availability. We will be scheduling in conjunction with the Tennis parking lot change, the re-sealing and re-striping of the Administration/fitness/tennislot,whichwillre-directtrafficandangledparkingspacestocreateatrafficloopinsteadoftheconfusing,doubletrafficlane.Thiswillcreateaone-wayloop and angled parking spaces in the same direction. An inspection of the Compass Rose (now closed for season) showed there is considerable wear on some of the booth seats as well as bar stools. As the fabric that was used for these seats is no longer available, we will be re-selecting new fabric and re-covering the seating prior to season opening.

By LeRoy Fleming Collegiate, it’s the Miami Hurricanes. Professionally it’s the Miami Dolphins... football, that is. Most high schools, colleges, and pro sports choose a mascot of an animal with ferocious tendencies, e.g.: cougars, lions, tigers, bears, hawks, eagles, etc. The high school in Key West, FL, chose the “Fighting Conchs”. I’m sure there is a reason for that. It must strike fear in the hearts of their rivals. Nevertheless, the choice of afishasamascot—waitaminute, thedolphinisnotafishbutanairbreathingmammal!Right, yes—wrong, yes….well, which is it? They’re both right. The dolphin mammal is a bottlenose dolphin aka: ”Flipper”, the symbol for the Miami professional football team. Quick of wit, high leaping, intelligent, and strong, I’m talking about the aquatic variety. Perhaps the mentioned qualities were reasons for the mascot selection by Miami. Regardless,let’stakealookatthedolphinfish.Thistruefishisknownbymanynamese.g.:Mahi-Mahi(aPolynesianname meaning Strong-Strong), and Dorado by the Spanish. Mariner’s Cove

Christy [email protected]

It’s hard to believe another month has passed by! Is is hot...Yes, somewhat humid...Yes, but it’s funny, somehow, you adjust. I’ve maintained contact with several Cove folks who have migrated north. Many have said the weather has not been very kind to them, lots of rain and cooler than normal temperatures. This is myfirsttimespendingthesummermonthsin our own “oasis”, and I have yet to miss a day of golf or tennis due to the weather. The evening summer rains give you plenty of time to recoup from the days activities, shower and head out to dinner. I heard from two Mariners Cove residents with updates on their summer activities. Jean and Richard Wik headed to the University of South Dakota at Vermillion in early May to see their granddaughter, Susan Wik graduate Magna Cum Laude with a degree in biology. Susan will begin Medical school at Vermillion in July. The Wiks were happy to be able to celebrate Susan’s accomplishments with her and her family. Dick Quehl, Kelli Vestal, and Dick’s daughter recently returned from a cruise to Alaska. They spent a few days in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia. While there, they had the chance to take theirfirstseaplaneride.TheythensailedtoAnchorageonRegentSeven Seas Navigator. They saw eagles, whales, brown bear, sea otters, and other wild life. The highlight of their trip was seeing the Hubbard Glacier up close and personal. Amazing. The only disappointment was that Kelly had signed up to take a helicopter ride over another glacier and return to the ship by dogsled, unfortunately

She said, “Chelsea was the love of my life!” Friends and relatives convinced her she needed to

Because many of their dogs have been through

unspeakable hardships, their goal is to insure that each dog is matched with a family suited to its needs so it does not wind up in rescue again. She said: “they were worried about my white carpets but I told them we can easily have those cleaned.” (For more information go to www.pekesandpals.org). It’sbeenfivemonthsnowsincelittleorphanAnnie(Janrenamedher) came to live in Riverside and she’s made incredible progress. “In the beginning, she shook all the time and I’m sure she was horribly abused.” Jan told how they believe she was in what is known as a puppy mill since she’s only four years old and has had four litters of puppies. “She still won’t eat in front of me but she will take treats and she’s learning to love our walks.” Jan says she is so happy Annie and she found one another. “Her love and devotion enhance my life beyond measure.” Originally from Park Ridge, Illinois, Jan is a 28-year resident of the Landings (the last 13 in Riverside). She and her late husband moved here because their daughter and family lived many years in Fort Myers. “I love the Landings for many reasons including being so close to the BBMann Concert Hall. Where else can you live only ten minutes away from such great performances?” Summer Dinners

On June 25th, twenty Riverside neighbors gathered together for dinner and fellowship at Carrabba’s Restaurant in Fort Myers. It’s always fun catching up on each other’s news and whining together about the heat and humidity. Thanks to Shirley and Bill White who are again handling the arrangements and

doing a wonderful job. Jan Foster will substitute for Bill next month while he has surgery. Minnesota summer snow?

John and I made a trip to the Twin Cit ies for a granddaughter ’s high school graduation and were welcomed with the sight of this “white stuff” on the patio deck of our friend’s home. It looked so much like snow that immediately we hadflashbacksof themanyyears of shoveling this most frustrating element. No, it wasn’t snow but rather quite

large hail fragments. The weathermen claim that records prove snow has appeared in every month of the year in Minnesota. Mark Twain supposedly said that the coldest winter day he ever experienced was a July Fourth in Duluth, Minnesota.

fog and low visibility prevented her from taking the trip. Overall, they had a really memorable time. I always have some type of party news, but the next party isn’t until after my deadline, so look for Pool Party “gossip” and pictures in the next issue! Carol Milkovich and Pat Benner have been a great team, many thanks to them for keeping the party going during the “off season”! We lost a long time resident Dick Nellis at the end of May. Please keep Beth in your thoughts.

I hope everyone had a safe and fun 4th of July. The only other new news is our road is newly blacktopped and looking pretty! That’s all for now! Until next month, we’ll be seein’ ya ‘round “The Cove”!

The Hesters are back in Boston and summer is in full swing. The weather is so nice, good sleeping breezes and the air conditioning has yet to be turned on. I have not had the pool heater on but if the water temps don’t climb up past seventy-fivedegrees,thegasheaterjustmightberunning. I must wait however, until Jack is out playing a long game of golf! All the winter damage has been repaired at our Wellesley home, thanks toJackwhohadworkcrewsbusyfixingceilings, floorsandwoodwork.Inalmostfiftyyearsofwinterstorms, wehaveneverexperiencedthiskindofproperty damage and hope never to again. Our insurance company said we are one of thousands, some with a lot worse damage. Nine and a half feet of snow, ice and freezing temperatures set a record for Boston. Hope next season Mother Nature will be kinder. It was nice for me to arrive home several weeks after Jack to findalltheworkdoneandthehouseputback, cleanedandrepaired.I was also glad to be away from the hot Florida temperatures and constantly running the air conditioning. So for all of you that are still in your condos, get in the pool early morning and enjoy the peace and quiet. We have been enjoying our family members and friends at our home on Cape Cod. Golf is delightful with no worries of fast moving thunder and lightning storms that Florida introduced me to this spring. We have no plans to travel or begin any projects, so I hope the lazy days of summer will be enjoyed. I am in the planning stages of an Australian trip with my sister. It is too far to travel for a short stay so I hope to spend the month of September seeing the sights of a few countries. This is about all the news happening with the Hesters. Hope you are having a good summer also and if you have news you want to share, drop me a line before the 6th of August. Happy and Healthy Summer to all!

The space museum complex covers the entire space exploration by NASA from early rocketry to the upcoming Mars exploration. Ann and LeRoy recommend seeing the two I -MAX movies first. Annabelle Hutson is on hiatus, articles gathered by editor Carolyn Jensen. Carole Hill’s son, Dave, his wife, Angela, their children, Roxy –age 4 and Austin –age 9 months –came to visit in June from

Portland, Oregon. Carole and Larry found themselves weekend babysitters while parents attended a wedding in Miami. Whew! Austin started serious crawling while they were here at Ariel and Roxy enjoyed a couple of tennis lessons with the Landings Head Pro Christian Clark. All had fun – but young kids are definitely for the younger parents! Carol and Larry are pooped, but recovering.

Former Ariel residents Jim and Joni Marshall entertained Ariel friends with a fabulous Blue Grass picking session in June. Ann and Gene Hintz shared their stories about their Danube River cruise aboard the Avalon Waterways Visionary. They report seeing beautiful buildings and were delighted to hear the interesting history of Budapest, Vienna, and Prague, as well as other

smaller villages along the way. The pair also attended classical concerts, folklore dinners, and enjoyed scenic and serene views from the top boat deck. All this beauty and history was complemented with sobering excursions to historic Nazi and Communist venues and lots of beer...was enjoyed along the way. Ann and Gene really

enjoyed this river cruise. Karen and Craig Reitan participated in a summer couples golf tournament at Beech Mountain, North Carolina. The tournament theme was: “Back to the Sixties”. Amazing! InspiredbytherecentfilmWomanin Gold, Marie DePaula and Mike Mirkin visited New York’s Neue Galerie and report that the “Gustav

Klimt and Adele Bloch-Bauer: The Woman in Gold” exhibit is amazing. Marie reveals the exhibition is devoted to the close relationship that existed between the artist and one of his key subjects and patrons. Included in the exhibition is a display of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, paintings, related drawings, vintage photographs, decorative arts, and archival

material. The exhibit continues through September 7, 2015, but the painting Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I by Gustav Klimt is on permanent view. The Neue Galerie is housed in a mansion on Fifth Avenue with a view of Central Park. It was built in 1907 and was once the home of the wife of Cornelius Vanderbilt III. In 2006, the 1907 portrait, Adele Bloch-Bauer I, was purchased for the Neue Galerie New York by Ronald Lauder reportedly for $135 million, surpassing Picasso’s 1905 Boy With a Pipe (sold May 5, 2004 for $104 million), as the highest reported price ever paid, at that time, for a painting. These sales were both surpassed in 2015 when When Will You Marry? by Paul Gauguin sold for $300 milllion. Well-known petroleum services entrepreneurs Judy and John Haskins recently directed their expertise into home building, to be specific, homes for homelessVeterans for life. The pairpartnered with others to establish a new South Carolina company

hope folks in other parts of the U.S. develop communities like this. Well done Judy and John. Late in this year’s season Ariel introduced line-dancing lessons to friends and residents as another way to exercise and keep moving. The group still meets on most Monday evenings in Ariel’s Taipei room; but has expanded their training and began taking free lessons on Wednesday nights at the Dixie Roadhouse in Cape Coral. Line-dance instructor Kathy anointed handsome escort to the dance group Norman Finn the nickname “Norman from Mars” during a dance session. The group extends an invitation to others to join-in; no dance expertise required. Contact Beverly Finn.

This month’s Clipper Cove featured resident says, “it’s all about the golf and the people”, when asked why they love the Landings. Carl and Mary Leo settled in Clipper Cove and the Landings after strong recommendations from Mary’s sister Fran Murphy (of Murph and Fran Murphy over at Sunset Harbor). “It is the people that take you in at Clipper Cove. We are one big Clipper Cove family, and we love it so”, says Mary. Both Mary and Carl are two of the most active golfers in the Landings, and we are told they know just about every inch and angle of the golf course. They are both avid league players and have established games with many Clipper Cove residents. Carl says, “I consider Ralph Cristello (Clipper Cove neighbor) to be my personal golf trainer, counselor and mentor. I learn everything from Ralph, and I mean everything! Things I can’t even talk about, I have learned from him” The Leo’s enjoyed stays in Punta Gorda in the winter season for awhilebeforefindingtheLandingsafterMary’ssistersurging.TheLeo’s are delighted with the new course and design as well as the condition. They love how the landscape and grounds of the Landings and Clipper Cove are always neatly manicured and beautiful. “The care of the entire facility was a wonderful surprise to us”, says Mary. The Leo’s enjoy one daughter Andrea, and their granddaughter and college student Rio, age 19 and their 7 year-old grandson Kenneth, who enjoys soccer and baseball. Their favorite holiday is Thanksgiving at Clipper Cove. This gathering has become a tradition in Clipper Cove for residents to join in a large buffet feast at the pool sharing food and stores of the summer. As many as 40 Clipper Cove residents and family members attend our Holiday buffet and pitch-in. Mary leads the Clipper Cove “aqua-girl swim team” (water aerobics). Mary began the water aerobics at the pool and has a strong and growing following. Word has it they are going to compete against Gulf Harbor this coming year, in a 15 round, no holds barred competition. Knowing Gulf Harbor, they will try to wear life vests when they compete while yelling “Marco, Marco”, to try to distract our team. Mary sets up her stereo at poolside, with her aerobic CD’s, and the girls really make some waves. Legend has it that they have occasionallysplashedthe5thfloorofAriel.

In the summers, you will find them hanging around fun places in Amsterdam New York, located in the East central portion of New York State. In fact, when this author called them for our featured report, they picked up the call in an upstate New York “Irish Pub”, enjoying their favorite stout brew and cottage pie. Now that is good times.

Both Mary and Carl are known for their infectious smiles and can-do, positive attitude of life. They are always there to help and make things better and are wonderful additions to our Clipper Cove home. Two of Clipper Cove’s other residents, Art & Ginger Beckwith have just returned from a two week vacation in France. Art was especially thrilled to see the Normandy D-Day Beaches where his uncle Harvey landed on June 6, 1944.

Break out the raincoats and galoshes, we are in the thick of the rainy season and SW Florida doesn’t disappoint with the tropic like thunderstorms and lightning. Seek shelter and do not fool around with mothernatureonherflashydisplays, asevery year someone is seriously injured or worse by the number one lightning capitolintheworldflexingitsmuscles. The much awaited dredging of the marina, so that the “Blow Boaters” have reasonable chance of entering and leaving, no matter what the tide may be, is said to be getting underway soon. We hope this takes place sooner rather than later…or…The pirates might revolt. Then again, it might be funny watching a “suit” or two walking the plank off Picnic Pointe. We recently were hugging our “noodle” at the village pool , when we heard the lightning alarm go off on top of the Ariel…We sincerely hope the golfers had a better chance of hearing it, as it didn’t strike us as overly strident in it’s call to cover. August isn’t loaded with government recognized holidays, in fact the only thing that comes to mind is the start of school on the 24th, which should be construed as a respite for Moms. The other date that comes to mind is August 14th, which was the day World War II ended with the signing of surrender by the Japanese government. This date has been stricken from all states holidays, saveone, fromtheirofficialcalendars, forwhateverreason.Theoneholdout is Rhode Island, which has refused the federal government’s ministrations to strike it as hateful. Their response was it had nothing to do with prejudice, etc., but had everything to do with honoring our valiant men and women who brought it about, albeit they, to

their credit, conceded a point by renaming it Victory Day, leaving out what was perceived to be a racist slur. So, on behalf of the 13th state to sign The Constitution of the United States, and my adopted state, we salute you, Rhode Island. Sad news to report... Long time Harbortowner and former village board president Doris Millman passed away in June. Doris moved to Cypress Cove a few years back for the assisted living amenities they offered. A wonderful lady who will be sorely missed by all who knew her. The village is deserted for the summer and thank heavens it was, as a major water main break on our northwest feeder line had us bone dry for a few hours. With a request to boil water for the next 48 hours it was a mad dash to the market to procure a few cases of Aqua Pura for morning coffee, cuz when Mama don’t get her morning coffee, nobody’s happy. Well, we have rambled on, and we will conclude this month’s babbling with we hope is an appropriate saying for the “ Dog Days Of Summer”… A Barking Dog Never Bites… Unless it’s a Yorkie.

July was a month of transitions for LighthouseVillage. We officially said“good bye” to Lee and Beth Berhorst who made the long and treacherous move to… Riverside! All the best to them in their new home. Dick and D.A. Wendeborn sold their home as well, and they have been busy making plans for their move to downtown Ft. Myers. They will be close to their “boating buddies” and are looking forward to carefree condo living. Lou and JoceLyne Jahn sold their condo in Windjammer and quickly replaced it with a lovely new condo in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Lou and JoceLyne Jahn, after having stayed for a full season last summer, have decided that hot and humid summer in Florida is not for them anymore! After attending the wedding of JoceLyne’s nephew in Montreal in late May, they drove back with stops in Newport News & Virginia Beach, VA, as well as Washington DC and Fairfax, VA. They headed to the beaches of NC andfinallysettledforSC,inthesouthernpartofMyrtleBeach,andboughta12thfloorcondorightonthebeach.Alltheroomshavecomplete breathtaking view of the ocean with the South exposure, which means that on a sunny day, they can see to Surfside Beach and Garden City (some 10 miles South), while sipping a margarita and/or wine on one of the two balconies. Tennis teaching professional, Sara Hamilton with her sister, Laurie, attended single matches for four consecutive days at the Roland Garros French Open in Paris in May. Sara was thrilled to be so close to the players with box seats on the Suzanne Lenglen CourtforthefirstdayandonPhilipeChatrierCourtforthenextthree days. This Grand Slam is the premier clay court tournament in the world - and clay is Sara’s favorite surface! Unlike the Landings’ green clay courts, the French courts are brick red!

Matches included Nadal, Federer, Murray, Tsongas, Djokovic, Stoser, Williams, Sharipova, and Halep - all the greats! Lunch was served in the Steve Furgal Hospitality Suite by a Cordon Bleu chef - and the weather was super! From Paris, the sisters traveled to London to visit with their cousins and old friends. Social director Amy McDonald reports that 13 Lighthouse Village residents had a wonderful time at the British Open Pub on June 18th. The food was delicious. They didn’t even experience an afternoon shower! It was a bit warm, but there were plenty of fans to keep everyone comfortable. Until next month, keep cool and enjoy the empty streets and lighttraffic!
