The Verdugo-has been in existence for 50 years. Since the organization relies entirely on volunteers, that is no small feat. Our Chapter includes a great team of women whose vast expertise will help us achieve the goals we have set for this year.
These goals include retaining and engaging our members, developing and providing opportunities for them, improving our marketing to better reach the public, attract new members and raising funds for scholarships and professional development.
I am the Founder and President of a national nonprofit organization called the Renal Support Network (RSN), which helps people with kidney disease. RSN is nationally known and has a number of programs that I created, raised funds for, and implemented. I will draw on my experience with organizational infrastructure, marketing, and management to make the Verdugo-Glen Chapter as effective as possible.
I look forward to getting to know each and every one of our members and putting our talents and gifts to work to help ABWA and our Chapter accomplish these goals.
Sincerely,
Lori Hartwell

President’s Farewell Message
In our communities, we are leaders. We are active in local community groups and are recognized locally for our achievements. This year, members received the following honors: Dr. Marty Preciado - Latina of Influence; Lori Hartwell -Women Achievers; Elysa Rosenfeld-Ortiz -Jewels of Glendale. Nationally, Dr. Marty Preciado was selected as one of the Top Ten Businesswoman in ABWA. WOW! Congrats again to Lori Hartwell, our Chapter Woman of the Year and Top Ten Businesswoman nominee for this year as well. "High achievement always takes place in a framework of high expectation." This quote from Jack Kinder supports what we set out to do this year. We set high goals this year to raise $6000 at our Fashion Show fundraiser to be able to support as many scholarship recipients as possible, as well as professional development for our members
leadership conference. We set this goal, and we achieved it! Since our inception in 1963, we have given more than $150,000 in scholarships to deserving women in our community. Today, we honor 10 local students with $5300 in awards. These women have overcome obstacles to achieve their goals, and have promises of a great future. Additionally, we are honored for chapter excellence. This year, we will achieve Level II Best Practices, recognized for operationally sound, effective management and a strong chapter membership.
These successes were not the success of my work as Chapter President, although some of you think I am Wonder Woman. Each of YOU have made my job as President easy. You are a group of dynamic, awesome ladies. Working together as a group, we have achieved success and will continue to achieve success in our businesses and careers, in our communities, in our families, and in our professional association ABWA. I THANK YOU I have enjoyed serving you as President. I am in the process of relocating to Yuma, Arizona as my husband has military orders to the base, but I look forward to seeing you at ABWA SoCal Area Council events and National Conference! Kella
