Retail locationsThere are nearly 800 retail locations where you can purchase your pass before boarding. Purchase passes at most valley-wide locations of the following stores:
• 7-Eleven
• Circle K
• Corner Store (formerly Valero)
• Food City (select locations only)
• Fry's Food Store
• PLS Check Cashers
• Safeway
• Walgreens
Passes can also be purchased at participating:
• APS locations
• Public libraries
• Transit centers
Not all pass types are sold at every location. Please contact the location prior to traveling to check availability of passes and types of payment accepted.

How to Ride
paRk-and-RideAlong the rail alignment there are nine Park-and-ride locations where customers can park their vehicle for free, and access Valley Metro Light Rail. Valley Metro park-and-rides are for daily transit use only; parking for more than 24 hours is prohibited and can result in towing. (See light rail map for locations.)

Plan your trip using the online trip planner at valleymetro.org or Google Transit.
Buy a transit pass at light rail stations, many transit centers, retail outlets or online. For a list of retail locations, visit valleymetro.org.
Activate your pass before boarding. Keep your pass as proof of payment. Platinum Pass/U-Pass users, validate before each trip by touching your card to the orange target at a fare vending machine.
Signs on the front and side of the train showthetrain’sfinaldestination.
Trains stop at every station. Upcoming stops are announced on the train.

FaResLight rail, local bus and LINK share the same
fare structure and all pass types can be
purchased from light rail fare vending machines.
Express/RAPID refers to express bus service,
which has an upgraded cost.

All-Day, 7-Day, 15-Day and 31-Day passes
can be activated in the following ways:
• Choose the “activate” option when you buy
your pass at the vending machine.
• Place a pre-purchased pass into the
“Validator” slot on the vending machine.
• Dip your pass into a bus farebox.
A 1-Ride fare is activated automatically with
purchase and allows you to ride once on light
rail; be sure to keep your receipt as proof of
payment. A 1-Ride fare purchased through a
bus farebox is not valid on light rail.
Employer-issued Platinum Passes, ASU
U-Passes and other plastic cards must be
validated or touched to the orange target on
fare vending machines or stand-alone targets
before each and every boarding. To ensure
propervalidation,holdthecardflatagainstthe
orangepaduntilyouhearaconfirmationding
or “Enjoy Your Ride” appears on screen.
FaRe Vending MacHinesFare vending machines are located at each light
rail station. An All-Day or multi-day pass is also
valid on bus for the purchased time period.
pRooF oF payMentLight rail operates on a proof-of-payment
system. Fare inspectors regularly patrol the
system and ask passengers at random to
produce a valid transit pass and proof of
eligibility for reduced fares. Violators are subject
tofinesrangingfrom$50to$500andcanlose
their transit privileges.
All-Day and multi-day passes must be activated
before boarding. Once activated, multi-passes
are valid for the number of consecutive days

Bus connectionsComplete your trip using the many bus
connections that meet each light rail station.
Your All-Day or multi-day pass is valid for both
bus and light rail. Use the online trip planner
or Google Transit to plan your trip.
aiRpoRt connectionConnect to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from the 44th St/Washington station using PHX Sky TrainTM. Sky Train provides free rides to/from Terminal 4 and the East Economy parking lot. Service operates 365 days a year, withfiveminutefrequency,24hoursaday.Passengers traveling to Terminals 2, 3 and West Economy parking will need to exit at Terminal 4 and board the silver Phoenix airport shuttle bus to continue to their destinations. Valley Metro park-and-rides are for daily transit use only; parking for more than 24 hours is prohibited and

Wheelchair tie-downs are not needed. If
spaces are full, use wide aisleways.
• Light rail vehicle entrances are at the same
level as station platforms.
• Textured strips mark the edge of the station
platform and other boundaries.
• Spoken and visual announcements are
played at stations and inside trains. Spoken
and Braille instructions are available at fare
vending machines.
• Warningbellsandflashingheadlightsoccur
when trains begin or end movement.
Bikes• Bike racks are located in each light rail
vehicle, at park-and-rides and some station
platforms. Locking a bike to station fences or
other structures is prohibited.
• Enter the train at the doors nearest the bike
symbol; place your bike in the rack. You may
also stand with your bike if the racks are full
and you do not block aisles or doorways.
• If a train is full, bike riders must wait for the
next train to ensure the safety and comfort
of all passengers.
conductObey the following rules on buses and light rail.
• No smoking, eating, loud music, skateboarding or littering is allowed.
• Only service animals or pets inside carrying cases are acceptable.
• Beverages must be in spill-proof containers.
• No more than one hour can be spent at a light rail station.
Please note that an assault on a bus or light rail operator is a crime under arizona’s criminal statutes.
