Our Praise Choirs begin Sunday, Aug. 19 @ 6:00 pm. We will begin working on our Christmas programs. .

PC Kids is for 1st-5th graders. Jr PC Kids is for 4 years-Kindergarten (must be 4 yrs. old by Oct. 1st.)

What is TK? A fun filled Wednesday night for adults who never grew up and KIDS ONLY! We are connecting kids to Jesus! We want kids to say: I need to make the wise choice. I can trust God no matter what. I need to treat others the way I want to be treated.

A note from Robin: Our Children’s Ministry is ready for another new school year. It is our desire for our children to live each day knowing that Jesus Christ has a special plan for each of them and part of that plan is to have a relationship with Him. Hillcrest Kids is a place where kids learn to Believe in Jesus Christ, Trust God no matter what, make Wise Choices, and build Friendships that last. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the forces of Hades will not overpower it. -Matthew 16:18.

There are always so many topics and thoughts to write about to you all. My heart is overflowing from the salvations, life-change, and decisions made for the cause of Christ this summer. It is now closing in on a time that many students dread and parents love... back to school! All summer the themes of our events have revolved around boldness. I only hope and pray that the deeper message of these themes have embedded deep into the hearts of all who heard them.

For all of us our boldness for God and His word needs to be clearly known. This verse in Matthew beyond the debates that it calls for holds some power! Recognize who's Church it is. The capital "M" in "MY" is clearly descriptive of our Lord's Church. It is His and should then display Him in all ways. As a minister and counselor I hear so often about Christians that are falling to the power of forces of this world. One of two solutions can be made about this. One would be that the scriptures are untrue. Since that is completely absurd then the second that must be true is that Christians aren't exactly representing the true power of the Church of Jesus Christ. Let us not fall to the sins that so clearly and easily entangle us, but let us live in the power of Christ. He gifts us with this so that hell itself cannot stand against us. We as a body of believers can rest in this and be bold against this world as we lean on each other. Love each other as Christ loves us dedicating ourselves to the furthering of each other in Him... boldly! Rally around Jesus often! His strength and power should produce in us such a joy that this world so desperately craves. That joy will be nonexistent if we fail to live in the power that is readily available to His people. Go... be the Church!

The month of July has come and gone so quickly. This is a busy time for those of us on staff as we prepare for all the summer activities. By the time you receive this I will have been to Children’s Camp and will have been a Site Leader for Operation Hopkinsville, where we will have painted the entire Dorm area for those that need to stay at the Salvation Army. Our attempt will be to touch the lives of all that will stay there with the Gospel of Christ. During the month of August we will begin revving up for back to school activities and gearing up our Sunday School for the new year. We will be starting a new Sunday School class for young married with Phillip & Penny Miller as the teachers. They will begin to meet starting the 9th of September. If you know of a young married couple that would like to be a part of this class, let us know. Our choir retreat, “The Great Escape”, will be Friday & Saturday, August 24th -25th. We will meet at Barkley Lodge and review new music for the fall, our Christmas Musical and have lots of fellowship and fun. If you are interested in being a part of the Adult Choir this fall and spring join with us on Wednesday nights for rehearsal at 6:15 pm in the choir room. If God directs you to the choir I know He will use you in a great way.

Hope to see you from the Choir Loft real soon!

THANK YOU!THANK YOU!THANK YOU!

Thank you all so much for your support during the fundraising & preparations of our Ethiopia trip. We are very excited to see what God has awaiting us. Please continue to pray as we prepare our own lives & hearts to do the work of our Lord. LaDonna & Brooke Powell Thank you for loving, supporting, and praying for us! Continued prayers are needed as we transition to Huntsville life and search for a new church home. Rodney, Tammy, Austin & Zach Reynolds Thank you to all who prayed, gave of their time, talents & money to further the cause of Jesus Christ in Central America. During the week of June 16-23, you were a part of 179 souls professing Christ and 10 rededications in the village of Achuapa, Nicaragua. Our team also provided Bibles, prescriptions, eyeglasses, food & clothing, as well as dental and medical treatment. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwanba

This a remarkable true story about human inventiveness and its power to overcome crippling adversity. William grew up in poverty and famine in rural Malawi, Africa. He wanted to go to school but his family was too poor to pay the tuition. In a small library in his village he read about windmills. Only 2% of Malawians had electricity & running water. William wanted his family and village to have these luxuries, so he set out to build a windmill. He persevered even when he was laughed at and ridiculed for making do with junkyard parts. This is an amazing, inspiring and heartwarming story.

Congratulations to Jayson & Amberlee Martin on the birth of their son, Bryson, born June 28, 2012.

Congratulations to Connie Tawoda on the birth of her granddaughter, Chloe Sophia, born July 3, 2012.

Here is a call to true Christianity, to know the gospel explicitly, and to unite the church on the amazing grounds of the good news of Jesus!

This seven week study will begin in August on Wednesday nights, facilitated by Phillip Miller in room 205.

I know that Bro. Don doesn’t like chicken. But I can’t resist the opportunity to share from three different chicken stories. Except the frequent casserole or church potluck meal, chicken is just not discussed much. But today is different!

While we visited homes and shared in schools in Brazil, Chick-Fil-A made the news for taking a stand concerning marriage. How politically incorrect (but admirable)! And for that, politicians and community activists have expressed an opinion that flies in the face of God’s Word. We can’t expect that those with no relationship to God through Jesus will live Godly lives, or even agree with a biblical view. But the expression of that biblical viewpoint and the freedom to live within the guidelines of Scripture cannot be taken away. The conclusion to chicken story number one: eat mor chikin.

Secondly, a mission team visited a home in Santo Antonio Dos Milagres on Tuesday, July 17. Welcomed into the home, a family of three plus some visitors listened to the story of God’s love and forgiveness. As the team shared, the small child played with a pet chicken in the midst of the adults. Amidst the distractions, the family prayed to receive Christ AND they came to the service that night, professing Christ as Savior. The second lesson: God works among the chickens and in spite of the chickens.

Lastly, it is an intimidating thing to share your faith if you’ve never done so before. Sharing it with someone that doesn’t speak your language adds to the uncertainty. In school, you might have been called a “chicken” for not wanting to do something. The truth is that some of us are chickens when it comes to sharing our faith. But God moved in the life of several Brazil team members as they grew in their faith and shared Jesus with boldness. No longer a “chicken,” but an ambassador and a minister of reconciliation. I am proud of them for trusting God and growing in the Lord. Lesson three: YOU can too!

By the way… I like chicken, but do prefer it cooked! See you Sunday or Wednesday and may God work in your life this week,
