Holstein dairy cow created by
Colorado artist Lyle Nichols.
The installation is part of the
City of Westminster’s Public
Art Program. Metal artifacts
from the Historic Shoenberg
Farm were incorporated into
the sculpture. The sculpture is
called Dolly in recognition of
the Tepper family’s Dolly
Madison Ice Cream company
that operated from Shoenberg
Farm from 1941 to 2001. Ad-
jacent to the commercial de-
velopment is historic Shoen-
berg Farm, which was built in
1911 to provide dairy and egg
products for National Jewish
Hospital.
I fell in love with “Dolly” and visit
her on a regular basis. Well, maybe
only 3 times so far. But if you have-
n’t seen her, you need to go visit her
too. She is something special.
Keep painting,
Dianna
Misc. note:
When you finish a painting for a show,
please take a digital photo of it before you put
it under glass or apply a gloss varnish.

One of my long-time friends
called me the other day and
asked “What’s with that strange
looking cow? (see photo pg. 1)
My friend lives in Broomfield,
hasn’t heard of the Shoenberg
Farm or “Dolly” the cow at
72nd and Sheridan. I guess if
you weren’t aware of this won-
derful piece of public art that
resides right outside of
Quisno’s (Don’t they serve
beef?), you might wonder what
I was thinking painting the cow
the way I did.
For those of you that are un-
aware, here is the history of
“Dolly”
Dolly the Cow comes
home to Shoenberg
Farm (Sept. 17, 2009.

mercial development at
