Get ready for our first ALL Mopar Show & Race here in the DFW area. The club has been working with North Star Dragway to make this a reality. Our goal, as a club, is to make this an annual Mopar-only event. We have only three race classes listed, but the intent is to create classes as possi-ble if we get enough of a given vehicle. We need eight vehicles for a class, so if we get 8 Slant six powered cars, we can make a class. Eight Vipers? There’s an-other class. So be sure to tell people you know in the many specialty groups in Dallas-Fort Worth about the event. We’d love to be able to create Viper, FWD, Jeep, Prowler, and Truck specific classes. There will be a participant judged car show, bikini contest, valve toss contest, wa-ter melon eating contest, and bounce house for the kids. The event is set for the evening/night time to beat the Texas heat. See the flyer we have on page 9 of the newsletter. There is also information at the websites below. The track is handling all of the rac-ing, but the club is coordinating the other events, and we’ll need a little help. If you can lend a hand, contact a board member, or show up with your yellow event shirt from our April show. DATE: Saturday, August 11th, 2007 TIME: Gates open at 4pm. Christian Classic Cruisers In August

Last months cruise to the CCC show was a success, and we are planning it again for the month of August! We’ll meet at Rosa’s Café on the corner of Precinct Line Rd and Grapevine Hwy at 5pm for food, and travel over to the stadium for the show, which starts at 8pm. The show runs until 11pm. Hope to see you there!!

“That Thing got a Hemi?” “Uh….no dude, not even close.” This is the story of a friends truck. Known as Black Texas Thunder, it’s a 2004 2500 4x4 with a Cummins Turbo Diesel. Currently it’s taking up residence in my driveway while I com-plete various electrical upgrades and modifica-tions to the vehicle. It has produced 660hp & 1400 ft/lbs on the dyno, and gets 17+ mpg on the highway. Next month I’ll have an extensive write up on the insanity that is “Black TEX”.

From the President’s Desk

From The Illustrious Pootin-tane Hey everybody, August 11 is coming up like a run away freight train!!! Don’t forget to tell everyone that you know about this event. As you know, we’re having a car show, race, swap area, bikini contest, and games for kids. Who knows, there may even be some surprises too. Also go by some of your favorite places and see if they will give some items for door prizes too. Check out some of your eating places, parts stores, and any other place that you go to. See if you can get items for the kids too. The great folks at North Star Dragway are just excited as we are. We even have some venders coming out too. This will help to make this event more successful. So come on out and let’s have fun!!! I also want to congratulate the club for taking the Club Participation award at the Christian Classic Cruisers show for the month of July. I wish that I could have made it out there, but I had someone over doing the repairs to my computer and that took longer than was expected. Way to go Show Team!!! The next item for the club is to find a new sponsor and set the date for our next show in April. I hope to have more news about these items soon. Looks like that the rain is slowly beginning to go away and the heat is starting to take over, so stay cool and drink plenty of liquids. Be sure to get pictures and articles to Kirk if you want your car in the newsletter for Car of the Month. Also if you have been somewhere and seen something that you think that the members would like to hear about, be sure to let Kirk know about that too. See ya at the next meeting. Hey Mopar Guys N Gals If you did not make it to the Christian Classic Cruiser Show you missed a great time. I was overwhelmed to see so many club members that showed up for this event. We had somewhere like 12-15 cars and trucks entered in the show not to mention all the members that showed up without being entered. We really did have a great time. It was good to see Danny Hensley out with his beautiful Red Cuda. Feets had his famous Plymouth there with plenty of great stories about his trip to Houston for the photo shoot with Hot Rodding Magazine. Watch for it in the up coming issues. We are putting the finishing touches on the Southern Mini Nats. Yep, You asked for it now you got it! You wanted more opportunities to show off that awesome project that took you so much time to complete, or maybe the one you're currently working on. This is a MOPAR SHOW, You wanted a chance to go racing this time of the year without cooking your Mopar in the Texas Heat. This is a ALL MOPAR NIGHT RACE, Maybe there are some things you still need to get to finish that project, or some up grades for "THE OL' HOT ROD" (as Feets would put it). Heck you may just need to tidy things up in the garage, bring out the parts. There will be a SWAP MEET AREA, You wanted more fun things to do at these events, well here ya go. Valve Toss for the youngsters, Bikini Contest for the youngsters at heart. And they say we'll have some great music also. Just reading all this is music to me. There is GAMES, RACING, CAR SHOW & FUN FOR EVERYONE! We have put this together in a very short time and wow how it has really come together. This is one event you definitely do not want to miss. Take note we have scheduled this for the afternoon evening hours so the heat will NOT be an excuse for missing it. Well that's all I have for now. If you know of event or things coming up please let me know or contact my assistant MIS' KWEEN BEE (Rhonda Mason) at [email protected] and we will do our best to get the word out to the rest of the AUTOMOTIVE CRAZED WORLD! Till then "Just slide in sideways totally worn out and used up with the exhaust wide open." God Bless! Kelly T. Nothing new on the web site just yet. We have been putting together the race at North Star Dragway and I have been tied up working on that project with the other board members. So far, it looks like it will be a don't miss deal!

If anyone has suggestions for the web site, photos, vehicle info or any-thing else, just send it to the webmaster!

From the desk of our Web Guru (why is there white out on that monitor Mike?)

By now most people should be seeing their newsletters coming to them via email, for those that sup-plied email addresses in their membership applications. There are some email addresses that came back to me as non-deliverable during testing. If you would like to get your newsletter via email, send me a message at: [email protected] As of now we are still sending out letters via US Postal Service until I know the list is good. I will also start blind copying everyone in the emails as a matter of keeping email addresses confidential. I am ALWAYS in need of Car of The Month submittals, so send me a pic of your car and a short write up. If you don’t I’ll be forced to use my car, and you don’t want that!!!!

AUGUST 2007 CAR OF THE MONTH

Allen Vasut’s 1970 440 Six-Pack ‘Cuda

My 1970 `Cuda 440-6 “Ole Yeller” was purchased by the second owner for $2975 on April 12, 1971 after having been repossessed from the original owner. The application to transfer the war-ranty (which was turned down because the 440-6 powered cars could not have warranty transfers) showed the original delivery date to be November 26, 1969. The second owner was an Army offi-cer, and he took the `Cuda to Germany in August of 1974 and returned to the US in April of 1977. I purchased the `Cuda from the second owner on July 14, 1981 for the amazing price of $500… no, I am not kidding! The ‘Cuda’s option mix is a bit unusual, having come from the factory with a 440 6BBL w/Automatic, 4.10 Dana 60, Shaker hood, front Elastomeric bumper, and column shift! The only changes that I made during the restoration in 1984 was using a Hockey Stick stripe in place of the original body side molding & 15 inch Rallye wheels in place of the original 14 inch Road Wheels (Magnum 500 style). I have driven the ‘Cuda to shows all over Texas and several other states, finally trailering it to a show last Fall for the first time. Ole Yeller is one of three Mopars that I cur-rently own that I cannot imagine ever selling, the other two being my Triple Black 1968 Charger R/T & Platinum Silver 1969 Road Runner. Allen Vasut
