Dear Church Family, I came across an article entitled “Dumb Things Smart People Said.” A few of them are pretty fascinating. "I think there is a world market for maybe five comput-ers." -- Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943.

"I'm just glad it'll be Clark Gable who's falling on his face and not Gary Cooper." -- Gary Cooper on his decision not to take the leading role in "Gone With the Wind." "Radio has no future. Heavier-than-air flying machines are impossible. X-rays will prove to be a hoax." -- William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, British scien-tist, 1899. As I read these quotes I will admit that the first thought that went through my head was man, how wrong these people were. The second thought that immediately went through my head is how many of us have made statements about things we can’t do, things that aren’t feasible for Mt. Elon Baptist Church to attempt, or things that just seem utterly ridiculous. Now, think about why you believe that God can’t use you or His Church. Maybe you just physically can’t see it happening. Who knows, maybe one day you will look back at a statement you are making right now and it may seem as ridiculous as the statements above.

How often we keep the good news of God’s grace and sal-vation to ourselves! Yet it’s intended for everyone, and there’s plenty to go around. In fact, it never ends. Who in your life needs to hear that

Dear Parents and Students, We are all still hyped from Mfuge camp this summer but we need to figure out what to do with this spiritual energy and how to best use our current fire! So in August we will be starting the "Now What?" Series. We will examine the lives of the disciples after Jesus ascended into heaven. We will learn about the "Now What" of the disciples during a time of unknown among them. Our youth event for August will be a movie and game night at the church on August 17th. This will run from 6pm to midnight and celebrate the summer before the school year begins. We will have music, games, food and some devotion. We'll call it "Celebrate Summer". shoebox begins with you and often results in evangelism, dis-cipleship and multiplication. Pastors around the world host shoebox distributions in places where people may not know Christ and invite them to follow Him. Boys and girls come to know Christ and share with friends and family. This often brings parents, siblings, and friends to accept Christ and become active members in the local church. Families are reached, churches grow, new churches are started, and com-munities are transformed.Thank you for giving!
