HOLY DAY MASS TIMES

THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The Feast of the Assumption is one of the most important feast days of the year and a Holy Day of

Obligation on the official Roman Catholic Church

calendar.

By tradition, the holy day is observed every August 15. This year, the Feast of the Assumption occurs on

Tuesday, August 15, 2017.

According to Roman Catholic theology, Mary was "assumed body and soul into heavenly glory" several

years after her son, Jesus, ascended into heaven.

Mass times for the Holy Day are:

8:30 AM

12:05 PM 5:30 PM

ALL MASSES WILL BE HELD

IN THE CHURCH

SEVEN DAY

ADORATION

AT ST. PATRICK

BEGINS ON

SUNDAY AUGUST 13TH

5

Join Fr. Ivan Nienhaus, Pastor of St. Patrick Church,

Cedar Rapids on pilgrimage to GREECE, October 13-23, 2017, last official sign-up date is August 13th.

$4,594.00. On this pilgrimage you will come to truly know the life of St. Paul as we visit many places

he traveled. By being in the places where he preached, Philippe, Thessaloniki, Delphi, Athens,

Ephesus, (Marys House) and other places where he changed the world, we to, will be changed , by walking in his footsteps. To obtain a flyer

with complete information visit www.pilgrimages.com/johnston or contact

Mary Johnston at 319-560-5138 or at [email protected].

The August Apparition was unusual - it was on the 19th instead of the 13th because of the childrens’

imprisonment.

In this apparition, Mary again asked the children to

recite the Rosary every day and promised to perform a miracle in October that all may believe.

Lucia then asked Mary, “What do You want me to do with the offerings of money that the people leave at

the Cova da Iria?

Mary answered, “Have two ardors (portable stands to carry statues) made for the Feast of the “Lady of the

Rosary”. Mary then gave specific instructions for the procession, even telling the children to be dressed in white. Mary then said, “What is left over will help

towards the construction of a chapel that is to be built here.”

Lucia then asked Mary for the cure of some sick people. Mary replied, “Some I will cure during the

year.” Then looking sadly at them she said, “ Pray, pray very much, and make sacrifices for sinners; for

many souls go to hell, because there are none to sacrifice themselves and pray for them."

The Communion of Saints tells us to help each other be saved. The Immaculate

Heart of Mary is honored by our obedience to the

Commandments and living the Beatitudes. AD ALTARE DEI
