AUGUST CALENDAR OF EVENTS

MARGARET FORD - D327 I have lived at The Terraces for 11 years, but you would not recognize my apartment if you have not visited since last year when I had a partial hip replacement. My daughter’s organizational skills were used as she got rid of furniture & opened up space. She arranged a huge comfortable chair for viewing TV, relaxing, or napping. You can also appreciate walls filled with my dad’s watercolors that he painted in France after the first World War, in California, & at University of Illinois, as an architecture student. GALAPAGOS:

GARDEN OF EDEN? Monday, August 19 | 3:30pm | GRA Enjoy an exciting time viewing the wonders

of the Galapagos Islands. Located 600 miles

off of Ecuador this is the home to many

unique and wonderful creatures: Giant

Tortoises, Flamingos, Blue Footed Boobies

and even penguins. Charles Darwin made

these 12 islands the source of his evolution

writings. This sensitive area is highly

controlled with only guide led excursions.

Asia, Europe, & Alaska. I have collections of tea cups & pitchers. One corner of my home is computer dominated where I spend time communicating with friends, reading the news, playing games, or working on genealogy. Please come to see my special apartment.

MARVIN HUDSON – E 220 Marvin’s apartment is filled with one of a kind artwork. The paintings were done by his late wife Margery. Her favorite medium was watercolors. but she also worked in acrylic and even did an occasional sculpture. The stained glass was all done by Marvin. From the butterflies in the windows, to the larger pieces on the wall, they were all done with love and care. All the windows facing north provide filtered light for his African violets.

DOROTHY & JOHN MUNSON - P 294 Decoration of our current apartment has finally been a co-operative effort. After 59 years of my going it alone, John picked all the furniture for his new office. While I watched a video of “Shrek” in the children’s entertainment section of the furniture store, he worried about shelving, drawer quantity, size and finish. Color is important to me, particularly in these dark units, and I can’t live with a look that is institutional or mass produced. In the renovation of the apartment Oscar complied (not once rolling his eyes) with all my wishes. The décor does not fit any particular concept: just a 60 year collection of what we live with best. Each piece may have been refinished or reupholstered many times.
