COURSE PROGRAM
PRE CRUISE PROGRAMCAMERA, LIGHTS, ACTION! PATIENT PHOTOGRAPHY IN THE DENTAL PRACTICE
Dental photography has become an important tool for patient documentation and treatment planning, but it is also an invaluable communication tool. How will you get patients to ask for dental procedures if they don’t know about it? Show off your great work by creating a “make-over” photographic series of your patients and prepare a photo gallery that will make everybody stop and take note.
MS. RITA BAUER has become recognized as a leading authority on integrating digital photography in the Dental Practice. During her 30 years as medical photographer at Media Services at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto she has presented over 700 lectures and workshops and has trained thousands of dental professionals around the world.

CRUISE PROGRAMORAL CANCER: WHY HAVEN’T THE CLINICAL OUTCOMES IMPROVED?
Oral Cancer remains one of the most common forms of cancer. In India, oral cancer has the highest incidence of any type of cancer in males. In North America, oral cancer is the sixth most common type of cancer. The incidence of oral cancer has remained relatively constant for the past 40 years and the 5 year survival rates have not improved. During that same 40 year period many other types of cancer have had a decrease in incidence rates and noticeable improvements in long term prognosis. Since oral cancer develops in an anatomic location, readily accessible to observation and diagnosis the lack of improvement in oral cancer outcomes represents a paradox in the current climate of improvements in overall health care. The role of the dentist in early detection and appropriate referral of patients with potential oral cancer lesions will continue to be the first line of defense and a play a primary role to improve cancer prognosis.
ORAL LESIONS: AN ANATOMIC APPROACH TO DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS
The objective of this presentation is to guide the participants to develop an approach for the differential diagnosis of lesions of the soft tissues of the oral cavity through evaluation of key features of the lesions and reference to the anatomy/histology of the intraoral site.
