Meet the President Sister Peg Albert, OP, PhDSister Peg Albert, OP, PhD, was named the 10th President of Siena Heights University in 2006. She received a
bachelors of arts degree in sociology from Wayne State University in
Detroit, Mich., and masters and doctorate degrees in social work from
Barry University in Miami, Fla. She did her post-doctoral work at the
Institute for Educational Management at Harvard Graduate School of
Education in Cambridge, Mass., and completed post-doctoral classes
at Barry.
Since arriving at Siena Heights, Sister Peg has led several new
initiatives, including the establishment of a nursing program, which
conducted its rst classes in fall 2008. During her tenure as president,
Siena Heights has seen increases in both enrollment and fundraising.
Her student-centered approach has meant physical improvements
to the residence halls, dining hall and student union. In spring 2008,
she announced Siena Heights was freezing tuition rates for its Adrian
campus undergraduate students for a 2008-09 academic year, a
move almost unprecedented for small, private universities.
An associate professor of social work, she served as a counselor at
Barry for 12 years. She was named Barrys associate vice president
for Student Services in 1988. In that position Albert oversaw student
services such as the campus health center, campus ministry and the
student development center. In 1994, she was promoted to executive
vice president at Barry, an institution also sponsored by the Adrian
Dominicans.
Before coming to Siena Heights, Sister Peg guided the newly purchased Barry University School of Law in 2001. Serving
as its chief administrator, Barrys law school earned accreditation from the American Bar Association at the time one
of only two law institutions in the nation founded and headed by women to earn that distinction.
The mission of Siena Heights University, a Catholic university founded and sponsoredby the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all.
Meet the Athletic Director Fred SmithFred Smith joined the Siena Heights coaching staff in 1977 as an assistant mens
basketball coach. He was named athletic director in 1983, and in 1984 was named head
coach of the Saints mens basketball program. As a coach, he led one of the winningest
small-school programs in the country, recording ve 30-win seasons, 12 appearances
in the NAIA National Tournament and eight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference titles.
His 1996-97 squad nished as the NAIA Division II national runner-up. In March 2006,
he was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame. The Adrian native currently oversees a
department that has 10 mens and 9 womens intercollegiate programs. Over the past
four years, his leadership has been instrumental in the process of adding new sports
such as football, mens and womens lacrosse and mens and womens bowling.

HAIL SAINTS
Lyrics by Beth Tibbs and Jonathan Jones
Music by Beth Tibbs and Linda Deatrick
Orchestrated by Linda Deatrick
Hail to the Saints, the yellow and blue.
Strive to the end, well go right through.
And we support you all the way.Go, go Saints. GO SAINTS!
Hail to the Saints, march down that feld.
For you know well never yield.
And on top is where well stay.
Win, win, Saints. WIN SAINTS!
Saints Spirit Song
The Home of the SaintsThe multimillion dollar OLaughlin Stadium and Dr. Mike and Lynne Dawson Field was completed this in the fall of
2011. This state-of-the-art facility serves as the home for several Saints athletic programs, including soccer, la-crosse, track and eld and football. Thanks to the generosity of benefactor Mary Spencer, the stadium is named
after 1958 Siena Heights graduate and Adrian Dominican Sister Jeanne OLaughlin. The eld is named after long-
time SHU benefactors. Mike is a current member of the SHU Board of Trustees and an assistant coach on the SHU
football team, while his late wife, Lynne, was as avid SHU supporter until her passing in 2009. An Olympic-caliber
Beynon running track circles the eld, which is Super Bowl-quality Field Turf. The stadium also has approximately
1,800 permanent seats. A second phase of the project -- the construction of the Mary and Sash Spencer Athletic
Complex -- was completed during the summer of 2012.
Follow the SaintsAll Siena Heights football games will be broadcast
on the radio on WLEN 103.9 FM and on the Siena
Heights Sports Network, along with live statistics.
It can be accessed via the Stretch Internet link on
WWW.SHUSAINTS.COM.
SHSN will provide live video for each Saint
home game. Play-by-play will be called by Jerry
Hayes with Doug Goodnough providing color
commentary. Games will be archived in Stretchs
