After a glorious summer we need to find ‘forever hives’ for our incredible Bee sculptures.
This is your opportunity to become the proud owner of one (or more) Bees and raise funds for The Lord Mayor of Manchester’s We Love MCR Charity.
So please dig deep, bid generously and help to ensure that Bee in the City creates a really meaningful legacy for our great city and its people.
Sir Richard Leese Leader of Manchester City Council
Manchester – take a bow! What an incredible summer of creativity, collaboration, ingenuity, fun and Bee puns galore. The city has been buzzing with thousands of excited children (and adults) making a bee-line for the trail – bringing families, colleagues, groups and individuals together to explore the city and track down the Bees.
Residents and visitors have walked, cycled, hopped on a train, bus or Metrolink tram, and even jogged the trail in a celebration of art and all that’s great about the city – including the Bee emblem and what it means to Manchester.
A message from Manchester City Council
A message from the Lord Mayor
The Lord Mayor of Manchester’s We Love MCR Charity has been supporting young people, promoting stronger communities, and helping to build a better future for Manchester since 1997.
We are delighted to have been chosen as the benefiting charity of Bee in the City and have loved being part of this inspiring project.
Manchester has a proud history of solidarity. We are a vibrant, successful city – but there are still people living here who need a helping hand.
The money raised through the auction will support our We Love
MCR Stronger Communities grant programme. Community groups across Manchester can apply for funding for initiatives which will bring neighbourhoods together and celebrate diversity. Money raised will also help young Mancunians to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to succeed, having an enormous positive impact on their future.
Wishing you a fun night and the best of luck as you bid for your Bee!
Councillor June Hitchen Lord Mayor of Manchester

We invited everyone to ‘bee an explorer’ this summer. What an awe-inspiring response we had, with so many people taking the Bees to their heart, and sharing their experiences, photos and selfies. It’s been the perfect way to celebrate Wild in Art’s 10th anniversary in our home city.
The Bee in the City adventure took off a year ago, when our sponsors generously began to pledge their support; artists submitted their spectacular designs; and schools and community groups enthusiastically signed up to take part. We have been thrilled and humbled to see the city’s sense of community and artistic talents reach such dizzying heights.
We hope that 2018 is a landmark moment for a proud city known for its spirited sense of cooperation, dynamism and imagination.
Heartfelt thanks to everybody who has taken part, visited the trail, sponsored and supported the event (including, of course, our fantastic Presenting Partners Well Pharmacy and Virgin Trains) and not least – all of you at this special auction.
Paddles at the ready…be part of Manchester’s creative history and Bee a bidder!
Sally-Ann Wilkinson Director, Wild in Art – creative producers of Bee in the City
Auctioneer and TV personality Charles Hanson, Rik Alexander and the team at Hansons Auctioneers are proud to host the Bee in the City Charity Auction.
We have been privileged to see many incredible objects go ‘under the hammer’ but none more unusual than this stunning
A word from our Auctioneers
collection of Bees designed both by established artists and ‘ones to watch’!
This is a fantastic opportunity to give a Bee a home and own an original piece of art to treasure as a permanent memento of an unforgettable summer.
