• Gross turn over £40bn per year – (£26bn taxes).
• Currently undertaking a major re-alignment of business
practices from a federated model to a centralised
business model.
Looking for consolidation of business practices and supporting IT systems.
Whilst the underlying business is the same, there is a drive for more shared services.
A heavy focus on consolidation to leverage capabilities and reduce costs through -

Attunity Gold Client
• Attunity Gold Client is an SAP application specific
software that allows you to manage data across the
landscape
– Data copy functionality allows you to copy full master data and
subset of master/transactional data from Productive to Non-
Productive and Non-Productive to Non-Productive environments
– Data transformation functionality allows you to scramble/mask
sensitive data
– Data deletion functionality allows you to delete specific set of
records.
Background• An SAP system refresh is required when one wishes to copy one SAP
system to another
– Such as copying the current SAP Production System to a Test System
• This system copy is performed to ensure that the test system has the latest copy of production data
• Once the system refresh is complete, some post processing must take place to ensure that the test system does not behave as a production system
• System copies such as this take
– Time to plan and execute
– Large teams of specialist resources to undertake the work
– Reduce system availability – up to eight days’ down time.
Attunity Gold Client for SAP
• Attunity Gold Client for SAP is a certified SAP add-on
that allows user selectable data transfer from System A
to System B (usually Production to Non Production)
• The transfer of data can be either
– A copy of the production system with reduced transaction data
(refresh alternative)
– Intelligent Data Transfer: Allows project teams to quickly and
dynamically select and replicate user-defined subsets of SAP
application data from production and non-production sources to
non-production targets within the SAP landscape.

• Attunity Gold Client has the potential of solving two
significant issues for the Transformation Project
programs
1. The notable project risk associated with having an unsupported
production system
2. Unsustainably large test systems.

Around Technical Go-Live• As the project nears any technical go-live stages the “D” Development
system will be made ready for BAU support
• For the system to be provide effective support it must contain some test
data – to allow unit testing
• System Copy is not possible as this will make the development system
unavailable for up to 8 days – leaving production system unsupported.

– Or, having no test data to support unit testing

• Since April 2013 a Gold Client service has been operational in
the Transformation Project
• Currently in place are:– Capabilities to selectively copy or scramble certain data objects
– Country and language sensitive scrambling capability to allow
anonymised data to remain in context during user testing
• The service has been used 95 times since being established
– more than once per week
• A full master data copy to support testing requirement can be
executed in under 2 days.
