GalleryHours:Tuesday–Saturday,10am‐4pm.FORIMMEDIATERELEASEAttleboro,MA–Manyassociatethecolorgreenwithnatureandpeaceful,earthlydelights.Inrecentyears,greenhasbecomeacodeforenvironmentalism.FromJuly6th–August3rdvisitorstotheAttleboroArtsMuseumwillexperienceGREENasitfallsbetweenyellowandblue,asacall‐to‐action,asthealmightydollar,asoureco‐future,asachildhoodencounterwithvegetables…InJanuary2011theMuseumpostedanationalcallforartistsrequestingworkinanysize,mediumorconceptthatrespondedtoGREEN.GuestjurorKateMcNamara,DirectorandChiefCuratoroftheBostonUniversityArtGallery,carefullyreviewedcloseto300submissionsthatweresenttotheMuseumfromallovertheUnitedStates.“WereceivedartworkfromCaliforniatoMassachusetts–andseveralstatesinbetween.EachpiececarriedauniquespinonGREEN.Somewereasign‐of‐the‐times,otherswereareflectionofhowtheartistconnectstotheirlocaleandseveralwerestrongstudiesincolorandtexture,”commentsMimBrooksFawcett,ExecutiveDirectoroftheAttleboroArtsMuseum.Fawcettcontinues,“Thisthemewasselectedbecauseofitsdiversity.GREENcanbeacause,acolorand–aswithsomanycolors–therearepowerfulemotionalassociations.”ThepublicisinvitedtoattendtheOpeningAwardsReceptionforGREENonWednesday,July6thfrom7‐9pm.Sixjuror’sawardswillbepresentedtothefollowingexhibitingartists:MichelleD.AcuffofWallaWalla,WA;MiaCapodilupoofChicago,IL;DonnaCatanzaroofWindham,NH;VirginiaFitzgeraldofNatick,MA;LisaGabrielleRussellofBraintree,MA;ElainePawlowiczofDallas,TX.Fiftydynamicworksofartwillbeondisplay.TheAcoustic/Folk/Indieband,CactusAttack,willperformlivemusic.Thereceptionisfreeofcharge.TheAttleboroArtsMuseumgalleryhoursforGREENareTuesday–Saturday,10–4pm.TheexhibitionwillrunfromJuly6th–August3rd,2011.Admissionisfree;donationsarealwaysappreciated. ‐more‐
