dyspepsia.o The roots are considered a drastic purgative.o Infected insect bites can be cured by applying the juice from an unripe atis fruit.

PREPARATION:Collect leaves from the trees. Crush the leaves and let it inhaled by the

person who is suffering from dizziness and fainting.

PREPARATION:For Dried gumamela, collect the flower, leaves and/or roots. Wash, then cut

into small pieces and sun dry. To use as decoction, boil the dried gumamela parts (1/4 cup dried gumamela in 1 glass of water)

To make a decoction from fresh gumamela, Wash gumamela flower and/or leaves, cut into small pieces and boil (1/3 cup in 1 glass of water), let cool and drink.

KANGKONG

USES:o Tops are mildly laxative.o The purplish variety used for diabetes because of assumed insulin-like principle it

contains.o Juice used as emetic.o Dried latex is purgative.o Poultice of buds used for ringworm.o Used as laxative and sedative; used for piles, nervous conditions, headache,

insomnia. 

PREPARATION:For constipation: eat 1 or 2 cups of cooked kangkong at supper time. Follow

with water.

LUYA

USES:o Pounded rhizome, alone or mixed with oil, used as revulsive and antirheumatic.o As digestive aid and for flatulence and tympanism, decoction of the rhizome

drunk as tea.o Ginger juice rubbed on and around the navel is said to cure all kinds of diarrhea.o For sore throat and hoarseness, warm decoction of the rhizome is drunk as

ginger tea (salabat); piece of small rhizome chewed for the same.o Rhizome used as cough remedy, rubifacient, carminative and diuretic.Also used

for hangovers.o Poulticed of pounded and warmed leaves applied to bruises.

PREPARATION:Ginger tea preparation, the Chinese way : Bring one cup of water to boil. Add

one teaspoon of the roasted (parched and browned) rice and a small piece of ginger root. Boil for one minute. Let stand to cool for drinking. (Preparation of dried rice: Pour enough water to cover 1/2 cup white rice in a flat dish; and let stand overnight. In the morning, drain off the excess water. Roast the rice in a dry pan, stirring constantly until parched and brown. Store in a glass jar for future use, tightly covered to keep moisture out.)

OREGANO

USES:o Oregano leaves and flowers are used as antiseptic for cuts and burns. Oregano

contains thymol, a crystalline substance that has antiseptic and fungicide properties.

o Oregano is also used as herbal medicine to cure respiratory and stomach ailments.

o Oregano is known to have antioxidant propertieso Oregano tea is believed to have a soothing effect and helps in getting restful

sleep.o Tea made with oregano is also used to relieve flatulence [gas problems] and

menstrual pain.o Oil derived from oregano leaves offers relief from toothaches. Rub a few drops of

oregano oil on the teeth and gums after every meal and at bed time to reduce bad breath.

o The oregano herb is also a good source of fibre. [A diet high in fibre helps manage weight, reduces risk of colon cancer and increases breakdown of cholesterol in the body].

PREPARATION:Oregano leaves can be pounded into a paste (add small amounts of hot water

or tea to reach the desired consistency - oatmeal may also be added for consistency

purposes).  This paste can then be used for pain from rheumatism, swelling, itching, aching muscles, and sores.

SABILA/ALOE VERA

USES:o Skin burns, scalds, scrapes, sunburn and wounds. Sabila juice or the fleshy

leaves is applied to the skin, believed to improve healingo For treatment of dandruff, falling hair and baldness. Sabila juice or sap are

massage to the scalpo conjunctivitis leaf juice is applied to the outer eyelido In small doses, considered stomachic tonic; in large doses, as purgative.o For hemorrhoids, cuticle from leaves used as suppository for hemorrhoids

PREPARATION:o Wash your hands. o Slice off an outer leaf of an aloe plant.o Peel it.o Place into a blender.o Add these ingredients to preserve the gel naturally.

500 mg powdered vitamin c (you can crush tablets into powder) 400 IU vitamin E

o Place in a sterilized, clean glass jar.

o Apply several times a day to cuts, wounds, or burns/skin irritations, and in

hair.

USES:o Banaba is used as herbal medicine for the treatment of diabetes not only in India

but also in the Philippines.o Banaba is also used for other folkloric herbal medicine for the treatment of the

followingo blood pressure control o kidney disorderso urinary dysfunctions (helps ease urination)o controls the cholesterol levelso treatment of diarrheao facilitates bowel movemento treatment of fevers and others

PREPARATION:Dry Banaba leaves and fruits for about two weeks. Cut Banaba leaves into

pieces. Boil the dried Banaba leaves and fruits in water. One cup of dried banaba leaves and fruits to one cup water. Let it steep for 30 minutes. Strain the leaves and fruits. Take the Banaba herbal tea for 4 to 6 times daily.

KANTUTAY

SES:o Decoction or syrup of roots (in sugared water) used for asthma.o Fever: Take decoction of bark or infusion of leaves and flowering

tops as tea.o Hemoptysis, pulmonary tuberculosis: use 6 to 9 gms dried flowers in

decoction.o Dermatitis, eczema, pruritus: use fresh stems and leaves.o Rheumatism - Spread oil on leaves, warm over low flame and apply

on affected part.o Sprains, wounds, contusions: Use pounded fresh leaves applied as

poultice.o Leaf oil used for pruritic skin conditions and antiseptic for wounds. o Decoction of plant used for tetanus, rheumatism, malaria.o Decoction of fresh leaves used as gargle for toothaches.o

PREPARATION:Collect some leaves. Get the extract by boiling it with water. Then apply this

onto the skin.

MAYANA

USES:o Decoction taken internally for dyspepsia and for wasting away.o Decoction used as eyedrops for ophthalmia and conjunctivitis. O Can be used for  bruises and sprainsO Mild bleeding of wounds: Wash the young leaves; crush and extract

the juice. Drop a few drops of the juice directly on the wound. Apply the crushed leaves as poultice.

O Sinusitis: Heat 10-12 fresh leaves over a fire; apply while still hot over the forehead for the frontal sinuses or over the cheeks for the maxillary sinuses, twice daily.

O  Dyspepsia: Decoction, taken internally. 

PREPARATION:

For bruises and sprains: Crush or pound 10-12 leaves and apply over the ankles, wrists or affected areas for 30 minutes, three times daily.

Use a bandage to hold the poultice in place.

SAYOTE

USES:o Fruit is laxative.o Raw pulp of the fruit is soothing for skin rashes.o Roasted leaves help in the suppuration of boils.

PREPARATION:Simply boil the leaves. And drink it.
