Visual Arts District Show and THE LAST STRAW Community Art ProjectPLEASE CONSIDER STOPPING THE USE OF PLASTIC STRAWS!

There is a bin outside of Art Room 3 (Art Computer Lab) if you would like to donate any straws in your home to our project.

The TSD Visual Arts Department is proud to announce our annual art show this year will be at the Troy Commu-nity Center on April 22nd, which is also Earth Day.

In alignment with our World Class goals and Blue Pillar work we will also be creating a collaborative, community art piece during the show using plastic straws.

We are asking our community to make global, impactful change by not purchasing plastic straws and to donate the existing straws in their homes as a pledge not to use in the future. Many restaurants in our country have stopped the use of plastic straws and now use paper and biodegradable ones to make environmental impact. We hope to bring awareness to this issue and to educate our own district and community on how plastic straws are devastating to our planet.

Please consider donating any plastic straws to our project. Straws can be donated in advance to any visual arts teacher or brought directly to the Community Center on April 22nd.

U.S. Selective ServiceFederal law requires all men living in the U.S. to register with Selective Service.

Young men must register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. They can submit their registration information when they turn 17 and 3 months and it takes only a few minutes on line at www.sss.gov or they can pick up a registration card at a local post office. When they turn 18, their registration will be processed automatically. Most importantly, they will have complied with the registration requirement which is the law. An acknowledgement card will be mailed to them with their Selective Service number.

Why is it so important for young men to register with Selective Service? By complying with the law, they stay eligible for programs and benefits connected to registration, such as college loans and grants, federal employ-ment, job training citzenship for immigrant men seeking to become citizens, and driver's license eligibility in most states.

If you have further questions, please see your counselor.
