The third annual Taste of Athens took place at Hocking College’s Student Center on March 23, 2013. The event netted Habitat over $15,000.00. Thank you to all that attended, donated, spon-sored and volunteered. There were nine restau-rants competing for the bragging rights of top taste.

The nine competitors were: Casa Nueva, Fluff Bakery presenting Rick-shaw Thai, Kiser’s Barbe-que, Cutler’s Restaurant, Lui Lui’s, Sol, The Inn at Cedar Falls, Rocky Boot Grill, and the Athens Country Club.

All brought their top game and wowed the

crowd with amazing dishes from a duck breast flatbread to tofu albondigas. It was a foodies paradise.

As the tasting came to an end people voted for their favorite dishes. The winners were as follows:

First place with black-ened tilapia crostini served with a home-made black bean and corn salsa topped with a cilantro lime mayon-naise was Kiser’s Barbe-que,

Second place with herb dusted pork tenderloin with braised Brussels sprouts and carrot broth was Cutler’s Restaurant

Third place with Tam Som, a spicy green papaya salad with lime, hot chili, fish sauce, palm sugar; and Tom Kha Gai, a chicken, coconut milk soup with kaffir lime leaves, galangal, and lemon grass was Fluff’s Bakery introducing Rickshaw Thai.
