RACE DAY INFORMATION | AFTER RACE INFORMATION

Hints for Relays • Every swimmer of a relay should arrive in time at the waiting area of the

start place. The other participants of the relay are not allowed to be present in this waiting area. They can watch the swimming together with the other spectators from the waters' edge.

• After the swim exit the swimmer betakes himself to the transition block for relays. There the time taking transponder is handed over to the biker of the relay. The bib of the biker has to be clearly readable from the back.

• Again in Transition Area there is an own transition block where the runner awaits the biker. There, the time taking transponder is handed over.

• All participants of a relay may run to the finish together (Finish line Photo). We recommend meeting on Esplande before the fence begins to run to the finish line together.

This may arise in costs for search and rescue (u.c.c. for the athlete himself), as the organizer assumes an emergency situation and will initiates appropriate measures.

NEW Rules 2017:

You can find the official rules and regulations governing all IRONMAN events here: www.ironman.com/rules-and-regulations 1. Yellow cards will now be a 1-minute Time Penalty.

2. Disc brakes are now allowed globally at all IRONMAN and IRONMAN

70.3 races.

3. Athletes may not use communication devices of any type, including but not limited to cell phones, smart watches, and two-way radios, in any distractive manner during the race. A “distractive manner” includes but is not limited to making and receiving phone calls, sending and receiving texts messages, playing music, using social media, and taking photographs. Using a communication device in a distractive manner during the race will result in disqualification.

4. All athletes have to leave the changing tent completely dressed.

5. PC Open athletes can use one (1) guide of either gender for the entire race (previously the guide had to be the same gender as the athlete) – we know this is NOT aligned with the ITU but we have discussed this change with the ITU and have their approval based on the fact that the PC Open category is a non-competitive, participatory category.

6. At all IRONMAN 70.3 races, there is no separated area for personal nutrition / special needs. You cannot let your support staff hand over any personal nutrition / special needs. A breach of the rules will result in a disqualification because of “unauthorized acceptance of aid”.

Please note that rules may change slightly per event. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the rules published in the race briefing.

On our homepage we created a SwimSmart Top 10 Checklist for you to support you with your race preparations.

If you are involved in an accident: Athlete – Spectator: The police must be called! You have to stay till the police has arrived! Athlete – Athlete: Communicate with each other, whether both of you can continue. If not, both athletes have to stay till the police arrived. We can identify possible perpetrators by their starting number. A report to the police may occure.

Important Note!: IRONMAN does not allow athletes to transfer his or her registration to another person. This will result in a disqualification and potential suspension of future IRONMAN events.
