At A Glance: CLARENDON COUNTYLocated on the eastern side of Central SC, Clarendon County has a lot to offer. Formed in 1785, it was named after Edward Hyde, “Earl,” one of the Lords Proprietors of Carolina. The county has come a long way since then and carries even more big names, like Meritor, Alucoil and BCA. The county seat, Manning, is two miles from I-95 and 35 miles north of I-26. Clarendon County is growing rapidly, with 19% growth in population since 1990. Clarendon County is business ready, with industrial sites with up to 1,400 available acres located throughout its 607 square miles of business friendly soil.
INFRASTRUCTUREThe Central SC Region is home to four major interstates, all easily accessible throughout the Region: I-20, I-26, I-77, I-95. These interstates make for smooth travel when commuting to the Region’s major airport and the state’s major port.
