Thank you to all parents who attended the post Ofsted meeting with the Headteacher. This
was a particularly valuable meeting with a focus on improving communication between the
school and parents. Fabulous suggestions from parents included organising a Parent Teachers
Association (PTA), appointing Parent Ambassadors and hosting ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions
throughout the term. The Headteacher has welcomed parents who have committed to joining
the Governing Body.
Whilst many parents and the school did not recognise Bell Lane Primary in aspects of the
Ofsted report, the school is on a continual journey of improvement and we aim to address
each point in the Ofsted report in order for Bell Lane Primary to resume to its former Ofsted
grade as ‘Good’. During half term, the Headteacher met with the Local Authority to address
the Children’s Centre pathway which was identified as a safeguarding concern. This pathway
will be redirected therefore ensuring a separation between clients visiting the Children’s Centre
and the school.
The school will undergo reviews which include Pupil Premium, Sports, Safeguarding and
Governance. This will provide further scrutiny on aspects identified in the Ofsted report and the
Local Authority will report on the outcomes of these reviews. We further thank you for working
together with us on the recently introduced end of day dismissal of the children from the junior
playground as this has helped us to address keeping children safe during school opening hours.
Another Ofsted meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 28th March at 5:30pm for those parents
who were unable to attend the last meeting.
We hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday and we look forward to welcoming you back in
the summer term! (First day back is Monday 16th April 2018).
As from the
beginning of the Summer
term Bell Lane Primary School will
be a 'No Phone Zone'.
This means that adults should not use
their mobile phones within the
school premises.
This is a safeguarding measure and
we hope you appreciate that we
are trying to keep your children safe
within school.
Thank you for your support!
It was lovely to see so many enrichment opportunities provided through the World Book Day
events and to see our children so excited and clearly enjoying themselves in their learning. It was a
real reminder of what Bell Lane Primary school is all about and what learning should be!
Our World Book Day celebrations were excellent and well done to both the children and parents,
ensuring they came to school dressed appropriately. Also a big thank you to staff, who made sure
the children were enthused about the planned activities.
The children took part in a fashion parade assembly, hunted for golden tickets and lots of other
fun-filled activities.
There was a special assembly during World Book Day. On top of this, children got to ‘strut their
stuff’ and show off their favourite book day character costumes and impress the judges for the
‘best dressed’ prize!
On top of that, the school managed to raise £282.71 which has been donated to Book Aid
International which is the UK’s leading international book donation and library development
charity.
Well done to our netball team who won
their final league game of the season!
The team played amazingly and managed
to come out 7-3 winners against Chalgrove.
Well done team!

In Reception the children have been learning about
dinosaurs. This led to a very exciting event… Brianna told
her mum all about it! A story about the dinosaur visit in
school:
“When all the children were out to play, there was a
dinosaur, Stegosaurus in our class and he made a huge
mess, he even messed the book bags and he left an egg.
And the bravest head teacher, you know who is head
teacher? Ms Wilson come in and fight with the dinosaur.”
Mum: “And who won?”
“Ms Wilson of course! She fight with the dinosaur and she
won and when we come in class we had to tidy up after
the dinosaur cause he left a mess and we writed a letter to
him and told him:
“Dear Mr Dinosaur, please do not come in our school and
make a mess and please come and take your egg back.”
“And mummy do you know? I learned a song and is like
this: Stegosaurus, Stegosaurus, you are a funny looking
dinosaur
“And do you know mummy, they like to get into fights?
And the Stegosaurus is herbivores means he eats leaves
and they are and carnivorous dinosaurs us that eat meat
and he has spikes on his back and tail.” Told by Brianna
(Reception class)
Year 5 had a great day out at
Henley-on-Thames to help
further their learning about
rivers.
They were involved in some
great workshops and had a
walk along the river to see
different sections of the rivers
journey.
