International Research Projects

MoreGrasp An H2020 project that investigates neuroprotheses forspinal-cord injured patients. In this project, I am respon-sible for user-centered design, development of a mobileworkflow support application for medical professionalsduring patient screening, and engaging learning/trainingexperiences of neuroprothesis patients.

– Acquired ≈ 200kefunding within MoreGrasp (1PhD student for 3 years).

DALIA A European AAL JP project that develops an innova-tive support framework for elderly people living at home.In the scope of this project we investigate mobile-phonebased fall detection and computer-mediated collaborationbetween informal carers and elderly people.

– Acquired ≈ 200kefunding within DALIA (1 PhDstudent for 3 years).

MIRROR A European Integrated Project that investigates tech-nology support for learning from experience by reflec-tion in organisations (July 2010 - June 2014). www.mirror-project.eu.

– Work within MIRROR directly led to the submissionof a Eurostars proposal on reflection guidance.

– I was workpackage leader on learning by reflectionand observation.

– My research focussed on individual reflective learn-ing in the social context of organisations, mediatedby computer technology. A central hypothesis - thatwas finally not strongly supported - was that usermodels derived from sensor-data and the detectionof work patterns would serve as basis for reflec-tive learning. One key conclusion was that reflec-tion guidance needs to be designed into computer-mediated reflection tools, and the related key resultwas a reflection guidance concept. Other key resultsin cooperation with European research partners werea model for computer-supported reflective learningand related empirical-theoretical publications.

MoKi A strategic joint project between the Know-Center and theFondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento, Italy, that investigatestechnological modelling support for domain and businessprocess modelling. http://moki.fbk.eu.

– I developed modules that support model evaluationand trigger model refinement.

– I participated in the conceptual design of MoKi.

APOSDLE A European Integrated Project in which a task- and user-adaptive system for knowledge work support was designed, developed and evaluate (March 2006 - February 2010).www.aposdle.org.

– I supported the development of domain ontologiesfor requirements engineering, electromagnetic simu-lation, innovation management and European guide-lines for dealing with chemicals in the role of on-tology engineer. The semantic models were used toadapt a system for work-integrated learning to tasksand competencies of users.

– I co-developed an integrated modelling methodol-ogy that ensures alignment of domain, business pro-cess, and competency ontologies.

– I participated in developing modelling tools, amongst them MoKi.
