• What is Fragrance Umbrella? o F-Umbrella is an umbrella with fragrance delivery function (preliminary

proposal is mint flavour for sun umbrella). Difference fragrances are delivered in order to ease negative emotions caused by the weather. Sensor will detect the temperature and humidity, then switches to a fragrance that best suits the situation. A good example can be in hot summer, while mint breeze that distributed from under the umbrella that provides a shield protection for holder. A small size flexible solar panel is attached to the cover to generate power.

• Purpose o The concept is to build a comfort and shareable semi-private space,

which implies romance atmosphere. According to the weather, using aroma to adjust the body feeling to temperature, to make people more comfortable outdoors.

o According to the study, smell has strong influence to emotional feeling of human. Scent oil has been used for therapy purpose since long time ago. Different scent has different effect like calm, inspiring, awaking, release. For now, most scent is only used at home or spa. There are potentials that the function can be enjoyed by more people by attach the scent delivery function onto our daily devices.

• Why choose umbrella as the carrier of fragrance? o Umbrella is usually used in extreme weather as a compulsory tool, either to

defence the cold rain or hot sunshine.

• Function o In the case of sunshine proofing, the umbrella release the aroma of “Mint”, so

while working, even skin still inevitable exposed to the weather, smell of cool and breezy mint can help the body to adjust its feeling. Many optional fragrance sources can be used such as Eucalyptus oil from Australia.

o For the cold raining weathers, Capsaicin pepper oil is recommended. Many female aromatherapy products use Capsaicin & Pepper oil for body refreshment, so for female customers it can be an acceptable experience to attempt with.

• Extended Usage

o Since Solar battery is attached, assume more additional function can be added such as: mobile-phone charger and led torch.

o Power generated from the solar panel will go though the wires inside the

bone. Sensor signals also go through this way.

o Power switch is sit in the end of the handle, which most not likely be touched. Spin the switch can give user different scent choice. If choose auto model, system will under conductor of the sensor and choose aroma cartridge upon pre-setting.

o Leaves and tubes climbs up the bone are made by silica gem. It will be

inflated with aroma air when system function. Scent is delivered through the little holes upon the surface.

o Cartridge can be changed manually. Which scent oil is upon user’s choices.

o Waterproof materials and paint will be used for risk control purpose.

Abstract

An electronic scent-delivery system (10) is provided having one or more cartridges (100) filled with scented oil and maintained within pockets (53) of a tray (50) slidable within a tray support member (40) of a housing (20,30,60). Heating elements (76) are provided for indirectly heating the scented oil to an evaporative state, and acutating apparatus (92) are provided for engaging the cartridges to enable the scented evaporate to escape the cartridges. A blowing apparatus (86) provides an airflow over the tops of the cartridges, thereby directing the scented evaporate out of the housing through vents (65) in the housing faceplate (60) and into the surrounding environment.
