Motivation

This document is the reviewed (in fact completly reworked) thirdassignment after the tutor report.

Initially I considered to simply amend the assignment, but after consideration of the tutor comments in the report (see here ) Ithought that it would be a better idea to fully rework it (with theobjective to learn, and also as a matter of attitude).

After a full completion of each of the sections which I took asstudies of colour, these are the final selections (which can be seenhere).

Colour Accent:

Green and orange 2:

The setting is simple........light violet as background, the right arrangement of fruits. The gradatedcolour of the background s due to the fact that the light is coming from above and it was notreaching in the same way the lower, flat part of the frame, than the back part of the frame (which is

perpendicular almost to the source of light).

The photographs were taken on raw and processed with camera raw as usual, ..... crop, levels, a bitof colour boosting.

The choice of colours has been carefully considered.....orange, green and violet form a triangle inthe circle of colors and they are a triplet of contrasting colours.

Accent apple 8:

I wanted to try something with water..........Water is so nice for photographs........when it is movinggives a lot of room to play with shutter speeds, and when it is quiet it is a nice mirroring surface,and when in a glass it may originate many different effects with the right light (mainly difractioneffects).

Accent red blue 4:

The camera was on tripod, the light is coming from a bounced flash in the ceiling (a penthouse)......first I carried out the tests to get a proper exposure with the white bowl on the bluecardboard. Then I prepared the yogurt with the blue berries and then the spoon.......in the post

processing with camera RAW, levels were adjusted, and the colour temperature lowered a bit toemphasize the blues........and the image was cropped to remove empty meaningless empty space.

Accent orange 4:

It was taken in my house garden. I used an orange and my wellington boots. I shoot with the camera

hand held because I had in mind low points of view for which it would have been difficult to set thetripod.

The photographs were taken in RAW and processed with camera RAW. The only thing processedare the levels and contrast.

Contrasting colours:

Orange green 8:

The photographs were taken outside in a friend's garden. The day was cold but clear, the camerawas set on tripod and many different angles were tried (in fact I visited the place twice, because thefirst time the results I had I didn't like.

Here the difficulty lies in finding an angle or a camera point of view that makes this otherwiseordinary situation, something special..........

Similar setting as used for almost the whole assignment.......light coming from above, white

cardboard as background and lots of shots from different angles with the camera on tripod.........

Red blue yellow 7:

Initial setting........the parameters are consistent with the whole reworked assignment.......camera on

tripod, soft light coming from above, and the images taken in RAW, processed with camera RAW(including some cropping for some of them) and removing dust spots or other artifacts in

photoshop.

Similar Colours:

Yellow and orange 11:

I particularly like the reflections in the knife's blade, and the fact that the knife acts as anintroductory element to the scene where many shapes (and in particular one attractive triangleformed by two oranges on the left with the knife blade) are present. Additionally the orange has

become of more importance than the yellow.

Green and blue 7:

After trying several angles and positions I found these images which use the shadow and are almostabstractions......the apple can still be guessed with the visual hints given......and it will be certainlyguessed if the context is given (with the title or with the relation with the other photographs of fruits).

Orange and red 4:

In this case I have been playing with oranges and strawberries.

I shoot RAW with artificial light. Fluorescent of a low consumption light bulb reflected against awhite wall (to avoid hard light and hard shadows). The scenario was prepared to have the lightcoming from above (which is the more natural). The colour temperature of the fluorescent wascorrected in the post-processing in camera raw. Apart from that.....some colour push (also in cameraraw) and some contrast was added.

Complementary colours:

Green and yellow 4:

This photograph was made in a sunny afternoon, with the white balance configured in AUTO.

The only process it has been through is a levels adjustment in photoshop.

Lemon and violet 4:

The classic of the fruit with the water droplets. The close up however is in fact so close, that the

lemon is not so evident anymore.

Blue orange 1:

In this one I placed a glass on top of the white cardboard, which is separated a couple of centimetresfrom it, and it provides (the shadows of the blueberries is below on the cardboard) the impressionthat the blue berries are floating (as if they were still in the air coming out of the orange container)

Apple grenade and knife 3:

This one is telling a small story (it has some drama) and in terms of design elements it is rich....withthe knife forming a diagonal crossed to another diagonal formed by the two grenade slices, severalimplied triangles are also present, the red and the green are in harmony, and there is even a partwhere they touch each other. The rounded fruits contrast with the sharp, lineal knife. The metalcontrasts with the rest of elements, the plate round form is only implied..........
