INTRODUCTION

Group AT-2 was staked In Norway Lake Area (M-2385) to

cover INPUT anomaly 10470B-10480JK. It consists of two claims

numbered as follows: TBS80554

TB580555

The claims are recorded in the name of Teck Explorations

Limited of Suite 7000, PO Box 170, l First Canadian Place,

Toronto, Ontario, M5X 1G9. Geophysical surveys were carried out

from June 8 to June 10, 1982 by Teck Explorations Limited

personnel under the supervision of K. Thorsen.

Access is via float or ski plane 50km northeast of

Atikokan to Solon Lake. The claim block is approximately 200m

south of the lake.

PREVIOUS HORK

No record of previous work was noted in a search of the

assessment files. The claims are underlain by Intermediate to

mafic volcanics cut by a diabase dyke.

GEOPHYSICAL SURVEYS

One VLF was run to attempt to locate the conductor.

Shootback was also run on this line. Two other shootback lines

were run 150m east of this initial line and a vertical loop survey

attempted to trace the conductor. Magnetic surveys were run on

three of the norh south lines.

A total of 2235m of line was cut. Lines were spaced at

various intervals and stations were established at 25m intervals.

RESULTS

The shootback survey on line O did not confirm the VLF

cross over. The two other shootback lines detected very weak

dubious anomalies that could not be traced with vertical loop.

The results of the mag survey were relatively flat.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Further geophysical surveys should be run in an attempt to

locate this relatively strong INPUT anomaly.

This is a rugged, simple to operate, ONE MAN EM unit. It can be used without line cutting and is thus ideally suited for GROUND LOCATION OF AIRBORNE CONDUCTORS and the CHECKING OUT OF MINERAL SHOWINGS. This instrument utilizes higher than normal EM frequencies and is capable of detecting DISSEMINATED SULPHIDE DEPOSITS and SMALL SULPHIDE BODIES. It accurately isolates BANDED CONDUCTORS and operates through areas of HIGH HYDRO NOISE. The method is capable of deep penetration but due to the high frequency used its penetration is limited in areas of clay and conductive overburden.

The DIP ANGLE measurement detects a conductor from a considerable distance and is used primarily for locating conductors. The FIELD STRENGTH measurement is used to define the shape and attitude of the conductor.

Parameters Measured and Means:(1) DIP ANGLE in degrees, from the horizontal of the magnetic component of the VLF field. Detected by minimum on the field strength meter and read from an inclinometer with a range of 800 and an accuracy of V6 0 .

(2) Field Strength (total or horizontal component) of the magnetic component of the VLF field. Measured as a per cent of normal field strength established at a base station. Accuracy 29o dependent on signal. Meter has two ranges: O 3009& and O 6009fc. Switch for "keyed" or "F.S." (steady) signal. ;

(3) Out of Phase component of the magnetic field, perpendicular in direction to the resultant field, measured without sign, as a per cent of normal field strength. This is the minimum reading of the Field Strength meter obtained when measuring the dip angle. Accuracy 296.

Model GP-70 is a reliable, light weight, proton magnetometer designed for field operation under widely varying environmental conditions. It measures the absolute magnitude of the total magnetic field within the range of

v;20,000 to 100,000 gammas to an absolute accuracy of * 1 gamma and i 15 parts per million of the field under measurement, over the temperature range of -30" to * 50' C.

The instrument is simple to operate. A complete reading is obtained in 3.5 seconds by depressing a push button. The field intensity is read directly in gammas from a five digit display consisting of light emitting diodes. A10 position switch sets the appropriate range.

The instrument is powered by internally mounted size "D" alkaline batteries

(standard) or by non-ferrous recharge able batteries (optional). The recharge able batteries have virtually zero mag netic effect and permit full use of the magnetometer sensitivity even with close spacing between the sensor and console. Provision is also made for use of external batteries when operating continously at sub zero temperatures. A battery meter shows condition of batteries at all times and allows

TheGP-70 noise cancelling toroidal sensor minimizes effect of external Interference from man made sources. In high electrical noise areas, further improvement in signal to noise ratio can be achieved by keeping the push

button depressed during a reading. This procedure automatically doubles the sensor polarize time, creating a higher signal output from the sensor.

Model GP-70 comes complete and ready for use with console, carrying strap, sensor, extending aluminum staff, spare batteries, instruction

manual; all In a sturdy transit case.

GP-70 can be used in a hands-free mode by the use of the optional back pack mounting for the sensor. The re- chargable non-magnetic batteries are recommended for use with the back carried sensor to eliminate magnetic influence of the batteries.
