Assessment and Reports in Middle School
Why Assess Learning? • Overall goal of supporting the learning process,
encouraging student success and accurately describing student achievement in our reports
• Reliable measurement and feedback relating to learning (growth) - skills, knowledge, concepts and attitudes.
• Self-Management and Academic growth• Variety of data (inc. ERB, ISA)• Students should be assessed in a variety of ways
(written, oral, test, project, group, performance)
Self Management Rubric
We will indicate meeting or not meeting expectations, with an explanation if not.
Reports (parents and students)
• Continuous assessment data for specific tasks in each subject area, individual assignments shown
• Final achievement levels for each assessment category quarterly
• Narrative feedback from all teachers and students published at the end of quarter two
• Personal contact from teachers if students are not meeting expectations
• Delivered electronically – Portal always open • Parent\Teacher Conferences in October, Student-led
Conferences in Spring
Feedback on Learning
• Q1 (ends Oct 22): academic and self management grades, Family Conferences
• Q2 (ends Jan 5):academic and self management grades, written feedback from all teachers, student reflection
• Q3 (ends March 23): academic and self management grades, Student Led Conference on May 28
• Q4 (ends June 19) academic and self management grades
