Definition:

Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive. Confident declaration or affirmation of a statement without need of proof referring the person's rights or point of view without assuming a position of dominance or submissively permit other to bypass one's rights or point of view.

•Assertive Behavior – Involves standing up for personal rights and expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs I a manner that is direct, honest and appropriate ways which do not violate another person’s right.•Passive Behavior - Involves in violating and neglecting one’s own rights by failing to express honestly their thoughts, feelings and beliefs consequently permitting others to violate oneself. Expressing such an apologetic, diffident, self-effacing manner that others disregard them. In the Filipino setting: “Mahirap na, magugulohan tayo noon.” “Samok na sad kaayo, pasagdi na lang.” •Aggressive Behavior - Involves standing up for personal rights and expressing thoughts, feelings and beliefs in a way often dishonest, usually inappropriate, and always violates the rights of other person.
